A Singapore-based Chinese-language newspaper Wednesday admitted to wrongly using a headline a week ago to attract more readers – one that has since caused a public backlash in Shanghai against the host of International Channel Shanghai's (ICS) Amazing Race: China Rush reality TV series.
Sam Ng, city news editor of Shin Min Daily News, stopped short of apologizing for the error printed on September 7, but admitted that headlining host Allan Wu as saying: "You don't have to be polite to all Shanghai people" – was in hindsight poor judgment.
Wu, 39, whose parents immigrated to the US from Taiwan, said that he was shocked to see Shin Min Daily News misquote given that he never had an interview with the Chinese-language paper before moving to Shanghai last month.
