Sharks Fins - are you still eating?

I went to my favourite Thai sharks fins restaurant last night with someone. My partner told me she'd stopped eating sharks fins after watching some videos showing how cruel de-finning the sharks are. I felt guilty too in fact for sometime I was contemplating if I should do my part and stop.

Respecting her conviction I decided I should order fishmaw soup.



I wonder if I could resist the next time I visit this restaurant

In any event, i prefer abalone.

I don't eat sharksfin. Mainly because a security guard like myself can't afford sharksfin and partly because I saw the Gordon Ramsay show about sharksfin.

The best Orh Luak (Oyster Omelette) I've eaten is at Bangkok Chinatown, the omelette has so much oysters and not so starchy. Sylvia Lim should go to Bangkok to eat Orh Luak instead of Fengshan, it's even more "heavenly".

Yes it's hypocritical to talk about abstain from shark fins unless one is vegetarian.
That said using this logic to consume more shark fins is akin to a murderer justifiying its ok to commit rape as well.
End of the day you live with your own decisions. Public opinion is jackshit.....you make your own choices.
Yes and if you're a true vegetarian make sure your lifestyle does not facilitate killing animals as well....ie use of leather products, cosmetics animal testing etc etc etc

The best Orh Luak (Oyster Omelette) I've eaten is at Bangkok Chinatown, the omelette has so much oysters and not so starchy. Sylvia Lim should go to Bangkok to eat Orh Luak instead of Fengshan, it's even more "heavenly".

I've not eaten shark's fin soup since the 90s. Don't believe its worth that insane price. Happy to drink beer, any brand lager is good, and don't mind paying more for amber ale.

it's banned in california but we make do without it. it's nothing special except for traditionally minded chinese who need to include it in their buddha jump over the wall 10-course dinners. the ban has spawned an underground trade among the chinks.

My favourite soup. If not sharks fin soup, I whack hot n sour soup and fish maw soup. Yet to find ark see kan in S'pore - shredded duck soup. All these goes well with vinegar.

If Ang Mohs want us to stop serving then they should not serve foie gras or any dish where the animals are tortured. Better yet Ang Mohs, stop serving meat!!!

Than should be a Vegetarian all together, because slaughter chicken, pig,
dogs, cow, goat, snake, Fish are very cruel!
