While high salaries for PAP ministers aim to attract the most intelligent leaders, parliamentary discourse is often criticised for being overly cautious. Instead of the bold, innovative leapfrogging long suffering S'poreans expect from high-priced talent, there is a clear tendency for our ministers to favour conservative, safe policies, potentially stifling the very creative talents that the mega salaries were meant to attract. In fact, the PAP is not recruiting the right private sector leaders, but senior civil servants offering the same old tired policies that public sector employees are known for.
