Actually the light may not necessarily be in favour in this case. Main green light might be on but green light right arrow might not have come on as yet.

That is why I never make a right turn under such circumstances unless the green light right arrow has come on or it is very clear no vehicles coming down the left side and no pedestrians on or near to the crossing road.

Many a time I have seen something like the above but very lucky near miss.
