You joking right?

I certainly wont be alive in 50 years time

So when you say wont survive next 50 years when is the date of Earth's demise? 48 years from now? 40 years? 49 years? exactly 50 years? 20 years?
Joke aside, it is no longer easy to find a good job in Sinkieland these days. During our days or before our days, you just need to do well in your exams and life’s path is laid out for you. When my kids graduate in 15 years time, what is life going to be like here? I can only imagine doctors and lawyers continue to be in demand - one save lives, one ruin lives. I’m encouraging my kids to pursue a career path that contributes to humanity - anything relating to science and technology. The worst kind of job is finance and sales in MNC… 80% of the meetings are spent on useless discussions. It has negative contribution towards furthering the cause of improving lives. The earth will accelerate its demise looking at how people are out to harm each other. Just look at the pro mRNA vs anti vaxxers, pro US vs anti US, pro climate vs those who thinks it is rubbish…

Interesting that you say that. It was around 2003 when I had the same thoughts. Life in Singapore is highly competitive. And with time it gets even more competitive. Cost of property and basically space in Singapore will go up as long as Singapore's economy continues to grow and get richer.

What this meant for my children was that life would be even harder for them than it was for me. Even as a doctor back in 2003 I could not afford the downpayment for a condo. Not even close. But my wife's friend's banker husband could buy 2 in the Prime Orchard area.

Realistically if you want your kids to have a good life in Singapore and earning good income you need them to do finance, law, accounting (with business finance) and maybe medicine (specialists with procedures).

Which was why I chose to migrate. For my kids. Not for me.

Fast forward 17 years now. My daughter will be graduating in a year or two. She is in the Dean's List at her university. KPMG has already accepted her for internship next summer. My daughter is bright but I doubt she would have been President Scholar or PSC scholar material in SG (based mostly on academics). Competition is less stiff here in Canada.

Doing well in exams in Canada still means good things for most. And for those who don't do well in exams there are also the trades. Plumbers. Carpenters. Electricians. Handyman. Welders. Lots of red seal this and that trade people. They charge good money. The lift tech people I hired to fix the lift in my house charge $150/h

Service
4 hours labour
*diagnose lift not working
-adjust loose wiring on car top
-adjust rear gate contact
-replace upper floor door lock
4 150.00 GST 600.00
Door Lock 1 600.00 GST 600.00
SUBTOTAL 1,200.00
GST @ 5% 60.00
TOTAL 1,260.00

And the min charge is 2h. And he charges from time he leaves his house to travel to my location.

Don't need to plan to move to space so far for possibly a better life.

Property prices in SG still going up.
Lots of rich people. Very high paying jobs especially in finance sector. Many insurance salesmen calling themselves financial advisors also raking it big money.
Medical specialists doing very well too.
Many rich businessmen in Singapore.

I don't hear much about people wanting to migrate or migrating anymore. Surely that's a sign Singapore is doing well.

They are just delaying the issues by giving debt deferment. Usa is getting serious inflation and they are going to reduce money printing. Plus the virus wiping off sinkies. The jia lak part will come later this year.

I live here that is why I worried for sinkies.

Actually what can Singapore do? Not much. Many industries all not competitive in SG. And no natural resources. Very hard.

Just pray finance sector continues to flourish. So far so good. And immigration helps keep property demand especially residential.

SINGAPORE: A resolution is being negotiated between a special prosecutor and a lawyer for Singaporean Amos Yee, who has been remanded by a court in the United States.
Yee appeared via Zoom before a Chicago court early Thursday morning (Oct 21), Singapore time, for a short hearing. The 22-year-old faces 18 charges, including grooming, indecently soliciting a child, and possession of child pornography.

The public defender – a lawyer employed by the state in a criminal trial to represent a defendant who is unable to afford legal assistance – told the court the case was being prosecuted by a special prosecutor, who was not available for the hearing.
“He and I are negotiating a resolution for this case,” she said, adding that she would call Yee after hearing from the prosecutor about the negotiations.
According to the Legal Information Institute, a special prosecutor is one who is independent of an office that would normally exercise jurisdiction in a criminal investigation.
This is to avoid potential conflicts of interest or to facilitate subject matter area expertise. They are sometimes called to prosecute high profile cases.
Yee, who has been in remand for about a year, is set to come before the court again next month.

Yee was granted asylum in the United States more than four years ago.

He was arrested by US Marshals in Oct last year at his apartment in Chicago’s Norwood Park East neighbourhood.

He is accused of exchanging nude photos with a 14-year-old girl via WhatsApp. The alleged incidents took place in 2019 between Feb 1 and Jun 30, and involved thousands of texts. When their relationship soured, the girl contacted a group of people “interested in exposing paedophiles”, the court previously heard.

If found guilty, Yee could lose his asylum status and be deported back to Singapore.

This was not Yee’s first brush with the law.

In 2015, Yee was jailed in Singapore for wounding religious feelings by making remarks about Christians. About a year later, Yee was jailed again and fined on a similar charge, this time for making remarks about Christians and Muslims.

We lost 2 years of NFS from the bastard LKY dictator...

2 years in NSF is wasted and the property prices double every 10 years and those day HDB was $300K after 2 years NSF it cost $60k more to buy.

This bastard LKY sons didn’t lose 2.5 years of their life in NSF under the fake SAF Scholarship shits.

Your kids might want to consider agriculture and farming. There's huge potential in this area in the years to come.

Lol... this piece of garbage should be sent to a maximum security prison in USA and service the inmates in there. One can wonder what these inmates think of pedos and rapists.
