A MAN who allegedly robbed, or tried to rob, four taxi drivers at knifepoint early Sunday morning was arrested within two hours of the latest robbery. None of the drivers were hurt. At about 12.30am on Sunday, the man got into the front passenger seat of a cab in Sims Avenue, took out a knife and demanded money from the 59-year-old cabby. He fled after taking $4. He is believed to have robbed a 39-year-old driver of $150, along the same road at about 1.50am. He then allegedly tried to rob a 32-year-old cabby at 2.50am and a 40-year-old one at 4.45am, again along the same road. Based on the cabbies' description, officers from the Bedok Police Division identified him at a back lane between Lorong 19 and Lorong 21 Geylang.
They arrested him after a brief struggle and found a 27cm-long knife on him. -- MY PAPER
