Citizen: We cannot speak for the people as we have not conducted a poll & we are not entitled to assume on their behalf. Again, you have not answered my question. Let me ask it again.

How did you arrive at the conclusion, as the elected MP who is the voice of the people of this constituency that the sentiments on the ground were reflected when you voted “yes”? What did you base this vote on?

MP: I do 30 hours of ground walk per week (offers to show tight schedule on laptop to us), I see many cases during my meet the people’s session, majority of which concerns citizenship for spouses, domestic worker help etc. The policy serves to help majority of the people in my Constituency who comes to me for help.

Citizen: So am I right to say that this is an assumption based on your experience in the M-T-P sessions, that the voice of the people in your constituency is for the Paper?

MP: No no, it’s not an assumption. It is from my experience.

Citizen: To clarify, you did not ask the people nor conduct a poll, but you based your vote on your weekly sessions and groundwork?

MP: I have 40,000 people in my constituency and I based it on my experience from when these people come to me with their concerns & during my groundwork, visiting residents and seeing aged people needing domestic assistance. I could not say no to them having domestic workers.

A chip of the old block. If daddy was LKY's old faithful, son must be Pinky's yes man too.

Does this mean: I voted yes to 6.9m because we need more maids?

No ... No! Don't vote because of one lousy maid!

Vote for the 6.9 only if you want your current pigeon hole to be worth $5 Million in 2030!

But then again, things being relative ... prices for all other things would have sky-rocketed
as well (except wages, of course)!

Think about it ... Cheers!
