SDP calls for decent wages in Deepavali message
Thursday, 04 November 2010
Singapore Democrats

The Singapore Democrats wish all our Hindu and Sikh friends a Happy Deepavali.
Mr A Jayaraman delivers this year's Deepavali meesage for the SDP, reinforcing our message that workers in Singapore be paid decent wages and that the cost of living be lowered.

Doesn't matter what SDP called, it won't work and most people don't care.

This is the oxymoron that even peasants understand and vote against. If wages go up, prices of goods and costs of living go up too. There's no such thing as upping wages while lowering costs. However, that's not to say I agree with PAP policies, which is practically holding wages while upping costs. There's a better and more balanced way to manage these parallels, for both to progress in tandem where wages keep a reasonable lead. However, PAP policies are lopsided toward business gains, especially big businesses like MNCs and GLCs with senior executives and managers benefitting from the widening of the watershedding of the parallels.

Another Sinkie Mentality

Wages are raised when companies compete for limited talented manpower or when Sinkapore does the more lucrative jobs.

However peasants can never access the good paying jobs because they are not talented and have no ability to be in a good job

Your argument is flawed because you have focussed only on a single perspective of the problem.

Prices of goods and services are not affected only by wages but also by rentals, govt manipulation of the economy, international trade, currency valuation, and a host of other factors.

In fact the reason why prices keep going up is because businesses are striving to keep up with escalating rentals. Rather than keep wages low, a more logical solution would be to attack high rentals from the root cause -- a property market that has gone out of control.

Your argument of keeping wage low to keep price low is a typical PAP argument that is designed to fool people into thinking that we need an inexhaustible supply to cheap labour in our labour markets. Such a policy only benefits multinational corporations.

Once again, you're getting personal. Notice I have mentioned other ways?

Since S passes in sinkapore have a minimum salary of $1800, than the minimum wage should be $1800.

Pinoys and mei meis in retail stores are mostly on S passes and these are jobs that sinkees dont want.

So if alot of busineses can pay $1800 for a china waitress means they can pay $1800 for minimum wage.

But of course these workers are not paid that much in reality.. S passes are only wayang for cheap labour.

Wonderful SDP message. We will take note that minimum wages is necessary in SInkieland.

BUt does sinkie deserve such first world treatment, i think no. Remove them first and we see first world policies being held. I do understand why sinkie mentality is 3rd world, just watch how they behave. Check my signature.

The government thinks we are all lowly educated and all of us don't give a shit .
