SINGAPORE: The Singapore Democratic Party is fielding James Gomez, John Tan, Jarrod Luo, Mohd Isa Abdul Aziz and Sadasivam Veriyah in Sembawang GRC.

Dr Gomez said the team fielded in Sembawang is not an "A" team but a "people's" team.

He said the party selected candidates whom they felt can talk to and connect with residents in Sembawang.

Mr Sadasivam and Mr Luo said they are residents in the Sembawang GRC and so are able to understand the concerns of those living here.

The candidates questioned why Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan who is also anchor minister for the PAP's Sembawang team, unveiled the S$500 million renewal plan for the constituency only now, days ahead of Nomination Day.

If elected, the SDP said they would raise not only municipal issues like transport but also national issues like the ones outlined in the 10 SDP promises.

Among them, the SDP will contribute half of its MP allowance to the party, and to seed an endowment fund for the needy, if elected. It also wants to ensure Singaporeans get priority in employment and to reduce GST and medical fees.

On Mr Khaw's response on his religion on Saturday, Dr Gomez said that the issue is on affordability of healthcare for Singaporeans, not Mr Khaw's religion. The team also challenged Mr Khaw to an open debate like the one they issued to Minister Vivian Balakhrishnan earlier.

The SDP is expected to unveil its line-up for Holland-Bukit Timah GRC later on Sunday.

SDP rep will pull down 10% they should be happy with 30% result which is a vast improvement from the last election. If Chee can keep his big mouth shut, I wont be surprise if they can hit your 40% mark

Yes, very impressive team indeed. They should easily get over 40%. Hopefully 50.001% to send VB back to medical practice.

With a dream team like this, if the people of Holland Bukit Timah still vote for PAP then Sinkies deserve to be fucked.

The quality of this team from Opposition is unprecedented.

Actually I would say Bukit timah is a Pap stronghold. A place where the old money is. This dream team has their work cut out for them.

If V loses, he'll be sent first for psychiatric treatment. It is too much to bear!

He'll need to revisit every stage of his past as part of his therapy, including his college days. :o
Your kind assistance will be much appreciated.
