eventually they will... just wait
I find it strange that current Singapore football scene turn out this way.
even at the height of the Malaysia Cup or the Semi Pro League against the Malaysia states team in the 80s to the early 90s before FAS decision to quit Malaysia league, there were a healthy local league in Singapore. I still remember attending matches during Saturday afternoon at toa payoh stadium, watching balestier coached by Robin Chan then. The galley was mostly packed, so most of time sat on the jogging track and watch the action up close. why watch balestier u may ask, well a classmate's brother was in the team and the entrance fee was wavied by his brother connection most of the time. those days teams from mata and saf were whipping boys as they don't have foreigners and make up of NSFs. Sometime has a couple national players in them due to NS but still most of the time they cannot make it.
It more than 20 years ago, I only remember a few of the teams name such as geylang who the powerhouse then, and also Tyrwhitt Soccerites, tiong bahru, jurong and a few more. I think the league was called Prime or Premier League. Those days local teams can afford to pay angmo to play them, mostly from eastern Europe or down under. Despite my nick, it a couple of years since I last attend or punt on a AssLeak match. Kelong too much liao, most of the matches rigged. Even singapore Cup final result also rig, got one year pinkie attended the final and before the match start, he shake hand with the players while wearing Home United shirt. In order not to make him look like an idiot, the referee kayu all the way to make Home United win.:oIo:
I remembered Farrer park United were the Kings.
Watched them win the Nationals at the national stadium.
Ten times out of ten matches I watch on TV, the stadium practically empty. The TV screen has to be reduced so as not to show the empty stand !! This is ridiculous and a disgrace when other countries watch !! Scrap it lah !! Stop flogging a dead horse ! Idiots !!:oIo:
How do those clubs survive without practically matches proceeds and jersey sales ? who the hell in the right mind would want to buy their jerseys ? Singapore Pools largely funded them all ? other Sponsorships money must be very limited. they must be in the red every year. it must be damn demoralizing for the players to play at the empty stadiums every week or maybe they should be thankful that despite all the shits, the league still exists, they still have a well-paid job as a professional footballer.

FAS needs people who are genuinely passionate about the game. From MBT, HPK to the current Mat, all just useless. Imo, you need someone like Hyundai and Tampines towkay, Teo Hock Seng to helm the FAS. This guy is similar to N Ganesan. Both really passionate.
Agree but they wont kill the S-League. Reason is political. A certain race depends on it for a living and watches the SLeague machiam family outing. Die die the S-League will go on.
At that time, there was not much competing entertainment, now you have the Internet, cable TV, etc, big shopping malls with great cinema, iPhone, iPad, gaming..... Entertainment has evolved, maybe soccer need to evolve too, into virtual games, the like of fifa2015....
Another reason could be pap face......
You know how they never admit mistake and u turn.....
Scraping the league would be admitting to Malaysian they fucked up and made the wrong choice to leave m cup
How the Sunk Cost Fallacy Makes You Act Stupid
Do you think you make smart, rational decisions most of the time?
Chances are good that even if you pride yourself on being rational most of the time, you still occasionally fall for the sunk cost fallacy.
What is this fallacy?
In economics, a sunk cost is any past cost that has already been paid and cannot be recovered. For example, a business may have invested a million dollars into new hardware. This money is now gone and cannot be recovered, so it shouldn’t figure into the business’s decision making process.
Or, let’s say you buy tickets to a concert. On the day of the event, you catch a cold. Even though you are sick, you decide to go to the concert because otherwise “you would have wasted your money”.
Boom! You just fell for the sunk cost fallacy.
Sure, you spent the money already. But you can’t get it back. If you aren’t going to have a good time at the concert, you only make your life worse by going.
Just look at the back of straits times today with regards to the S-League and quareling officials!!
Udderly mayhem and disunity !!:oIo::o
FAS should ask themselves why Peter bought Valencia for more than 500 million and yet not a cent to the S-League.
As long as the PAP is in charge, nothing will change.
They'll install yes-men bureaucrats to jaga all sporting endeavours e.g. those clowns who oversaw the construction of the new stadium.
Wake up everyone.
This AssLeague is all about Politics.....not football.
The main reason for this AssL is to give employment for a certain group, and keep them employed, off the streets, and not create trouble.
I see many Chinese and Indian weekend footballers that play better.
Our national team does not have the best players in Singapore.
Any group run by ex BGs is bound for Failure.
After Army, BGs need jobs....so everything also can run? Lun jiao ok.
This is why Singapore economy and everything they helm all go down hill.
