Save our local gems like Ivins Peranakan Restaurant

Auntie Gaik Lean's Old School Eatery in Bishop Street, Penang. The absolute best Peranakan restaurant I have eaten at in S'pore, Melaka, JB and Penang.

U stupid cheebye, this is considered by you to be Local? Fucking retard.

Auntie Gaik Lean's Old School Eatery in Penang must be the benchmark if Peranakan eateries in S'pore want to attain Michelin Star status.

I notice they dont do grab food delivery and they open between 11am to 2pm and reopen at 530pm to 9pm. Very hard to compete with other competitors
there was similarly good nonya restaurant in EC road 35 yrs ago Very good but died due to labour problems n rent

Ivy's Nyonya Cuisine at 100,102, 104, Jalan Kedah, George Town, Penang is another of my family's favourite Peranakan eateries.
This thread is talking about local gems. Last time I checked, we are in Singapore, not Penang, you stupid cunt.

These days one food stall after another close down.
If rental is 15% of the eatery's takings, they can survive. However, rental in SG is usually up to 50% of the revenue so many of the closed restaurants never made a profit during the entire time they were opened for business.

Landlords are the winners. No need to do anything just rent shop and pocket full of rent. Sg is becoming the next HK soon

The landlords' children will inherit those properties and continue the cycle. That is how the rich replicate themselves.
