Save our local gems like Ivins Peranakan Restaurant

Peranakan were the early settlers who were mostly Chinese Royal families from China came to Malaysia and Singapore to bend down and get fucked by the Bumiputera by integrating themselves with the Malay culture then later deceived the poor Chinese labourers from China to support them.

What the TS did is the same as the history. Poor to support the riches
Those poor stupid labourers from China were sold opium and provided with prostitutes by the very people who took them here so money recycled back to the tow kay

Where is good prenanakan to bring foreigners?
for convenience and location i always go to spices cafe at the concorde hotel along orchard road. it’s a peranakan style buffet which covers almost every dish in a peranakan cookbook - from starter to dessert. quick intro to foreigners who don’t know much about the specialty cuisine and comfort food. and the vast choice allows them to sample from spicy to saucy to sweet to savory. not too sexpensive. and a macik sells sarong kebayas outside the restaurant at the hotel lobby. her prices are lower by 69% compared to the highly inflated kebaya sold at nonya and peranakan shops in katong. they are all hand sown from the same vendors in indonesia.

Poor people are used to support the economy while the riches collect the money and buy their favorite toys

for foreign visitors on business trips in sg for the first time, mid to high end buffet is the easiest and most satisfying especially with sg style of buffet spread. way more quality dishes and diversity than the shitty buffet in usa. moreover, don’t need to wait for service or slow wait staff. visitors sexplore, sample, and satiate themselves. at their own pace.

Peranakan, Hakka, Hainanese, Shanghainese (Yes, we've a very sm number of Singaporeans who are of this heritage) culture and language are more or less gone. You just ask the avg Singaporean, other than the nyonya dumpling and laksa. What other Paranakan dishes they know?
That is why any new peranakan restaurant sprout up is automatically suspect by me. Unless the cooks can be traced to Peranakan first or 2nd generation heritage, like Violet OOn or Benjamin Seck at Blue Ginger.

Give them a benefit of the doubt, ask them their Peranakan side ancestors before 1965 stay at Katong or East Coast. If no, very high chance confirm their sauces all pre-pack one.
