A man was charged with fraud in a Beijing court on Tuesday for dating 15 university students and bilking over 350,000 yuan (HK$440,000) from them, according to the Beijing Times.
Tian Fusheng, 41, who is married and has an 18-year-old daughter, dated 15 girls by using a pseudonym and pretending to a businessman with masters degrees from two of China’s top universities.
Prosecutors told the court on Wednesday that Tian got to know the girls by using the chat site QQ and obtained 354,000 yuan fraudulently from eight of the girls from 2010 to 2014 when he lived in Beijing. One of the girls was cheated out of nearly 200,000 yuan.
Tian denied all charges and said the girls “voluntarily gave” him the money.
The 15 girls, who were studying at various universities in Beijing as well as Shandong and Hebei provinces, had all visited Tian and had sexual relations with him at a farm house he rented in a Beijing suburb.
Some of the students were from the same universities and two lived in the same dorm.
One of the students was pregnant with Tian’s child, but he refused to pay for the girl’s abortion.
The court has yet to give a verdict.
