<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->THE Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) will get a new chief come Dec 10 - and in a first for the Singapore Armed Forces, one sibling will replace another.
The new Chief of Air Force will be Brigadier-General Ng Chee Meng, 41. He will replace his older brother, Major-General Ng Chee Khern, 44, who has been the Air Force chief since 2006.
The generals have another sibling in the top rungs of the military: The youngest of the three, Rear-Admiral Ng Chee Peng, 39, is the Republic of Singapore Navy's Chief of Staff - Naval Staff and Fleet Commander.
Maj-Gen Ng, an SAF (Overseas) and President's Scholar, will move to the administrative service after he relinquishes his appointment, the Defence Ministry said yesterday.
Acknowledging his achievements since he joined the military in 1984, Mindef said the two-star general has served the SAF with distinction.
It credited Maj-Gen Ng with leading 'the most fundamental restructuring' of the Air Force and its staff since the arm was formed in 1968.
He regrouped the RSAF's aircraft, radars and air defence systems into five commands to deliver quicker and more devastating firepower, regardless of whether they are in high-risk operations in areas like the Persian Gulf or carrying out humanitarian relief efforts in disaster zones. Under the old set-up, they were divided according to location rather than function.
Under his watch, the RSAF also added new aircraft - the F15-SG Strike Eagle fighter and G550 Airborne Early Warning craft - to its arsenal.
BG Ng, currently the No. 2 in the Air Force, joined the SAF in 1986.
He graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1991.
He also obtained a master's in international relations from Tufts University's Fletcher School in 2003.
During his military career, he has commanded the 144th squadron, which operates the F-5 Tigers, as well as Changi Air Base. He has also served as head of the air plans department and as director of joint operations.

Indeed in the ancient Chinese army officers deployed by the emperors especially in the remote rural gates of great wall 边关守将 were succeeded within family line. A typical legend will be the Yang Family aka 杨家将,in the case there is no son in the general's family, they will past to their god son 义子 just like in the case of famous Yue Fei 岳飞 when he was framed and executed by the bastard Prime Minister 秦侩 his god son 岳云 was also executed together with him.

He looks more like a boy's scout to me!

What experience does a 44 year old "teenager" has that he can lead the airforce.

A staff Sergent in the US army can match him.

Are we lacking of talent in Singapore that we have 3 siblings serving top positions? Very glad their surname are not Lee, otherwise conclusions will be jumped all over

maybe some resourceful bros can check their backgrounds...not surprise if they have some connections for all three sons in the family to be scholars...

Sinkapore is a fascist dictatorship where nepotism is rife among Lee, Kwa and now
also the Ng family members.

Indeed, all our indian chiefs of service make the SAF look like cub scouts then a 3G force in the eyes of the world. Its getting pathetic as the years come by as each succeeding chief looks more and more amateurish.

I wonder whether visiting forces with the equivalent appointment will look at them with awe or snares.

hmm. . .either the ng family are very loyal dogs or maybe they are scheming to take over the lees.

i can't help but think about the time of the 3 kingdoms. Cao Cao also had a very loyal dog named sima yi. He too, had sons who were very capable and serving the army. In the end, they usurped the thrown of Wei, and reunited China under the "Jin" dynasty.

the lees better start watching their back, yah. : >

Maybe the former offended lots of people and worried that after his departure his brother would kena tekan which could be why he made his brother succeed him...or could that be their father's last wish?

Knn obviously conflict of interest as they should not be in the same service in the first place!!!
