Britain's Prince William and his wife Catherine Middleton will be in Singapore for their first state visit here from Sept 11 to Sept 13, British High Commissioner to Singapore Antony Phillipson told media here on Thursday.
The Republic will be the royal couple's first stop on their Asia-Pacific tour as representatives of Queen Elizabeth II, to commemorate the British monarch's Diamond Jubilee this year. They will also visit Malaysia, the Solomon Islands and Tuvalu.
On their first evening here, the couple, who are officially known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, will call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and President Tony Tan Keng Yam at the Istana. President Tan will then host them to a state dinner there, where Prince William will give a speech.
Members of the public will be able to catch a view of the couple when they visit the just-opened Gardens By The Bay on the second day of their trip, as well as at the Housing Board estate Strathmore Green in Queenstown, where they will watch short cultural performances that reflect the many cultures here.
