Ros and Rachel
Family. It's a simple yet complex word to me.
Growing up was never easy in an Asian household, as love always felt "conditional." There's always expectations, no words of affirmation nor support, and survival seems like the primary function for us to get by.
I have a fractured r/s with my parents, esp when I first came out on my 25th bday in 2016. It didn't feel right to be hiding this part of me as an adult, and I wanted to own my bisexuality that I look for love in people, not genders.
All hell broke loose for a very, very long time. The silent treatments. The mean words. The disappointments. The screaming fights. The hurt that cuts deep.
But 6 years later, in 2023, I knew time will heal and tell. Which did when I found the words and courage to inform them I will be marrying Ros. And this is how it went.
So I wanted to share this beautiful story and to share - never give up if what you have is real. It doesn't matter what others think, as long as it's real to you.
