Ronaldinho, 35, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with S.League club Tampines Rovers and coaching providers International Football Group. The agreement will be the first step of an exchange programme that will see coaches, players and officials from Brazil and Tampines Rovers take part in a youth development programme conceptualised and guided by the footballer, said the S.League club.

"In essence, the Ronaldinho Football Academy will come under the auspices of Tampines Rovers, adopting the Tampines Rovers Football Academy now being run by the club for the North East (CDC) Community Development Council at Greenview Secondary School," it added in a press release.

New Chairman of Tampines Rovers Krishna Ramachandra said the collaboration shows the club's commitment to "developing football talent in Singapore". "I believe strongly that this collaboration with the Ronaldinho Football Academy will be the necessary fillip needed in local football," he added.

The programme - which will see Ronaldinho plan a curriculum and supply coaches for the Tampines Rovers Football Academy - is expected to kick off in the second quarter of 2016.

At the news conference, Ronaldinho said: "All the warmth I've been shown here, from the time I was at the airport proves I'm correct to set up my academy here."

The former Barcelona and AC Milan attacker also launched the Ronaldinho E-Scooter which he endorses with his team of freestyle footballers.
