Model arrested in bizarre Thai sex case

In Thailand on Wednesday police brought charges of illegal detention leading to death, abduction with intent of committing an indecent act and molestation against 24-year-old Ratchadech Wongtabut in a case that has riveted the attention of the public and press.

The victim, Thitima Noraphanpiphat, 25, made a living as a “pretty”, the term for young women normally hired for events such as auto shows to pose seductively with products they are promoting.

Thitima, who used Lunlabelle as her professional name, was hired to attend a party from which Ratchadech left with her on the night of September 16.

A media frenzy over the case has been fuelled by the suspect’s provocative online posts boasting of past sexual conquests, including as he had Thitima in his room, and copious surveillance video showing him carrying the apparently unconscious victim.

Thitima’s family and boyfriend went to the media to press their case that her death involved wrongdoing and that the perpetrator be held to account.

They acted as Ratchadech’s involvement was made public, and he initially had been questioned by police and released without charge after denying any criminal actions.
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Sutthipong Wongpin said at a news conference on Wednesday that Ratchadech acknowledged bringing Thitima to his apartment but said he had no intention to do her harm and did not realise that she was dead while she was with him.

Police announced Tuesday that Thitima may have already been dead by the time Ratchadech brought her back to his apartment.

They said Wednesday an autopsy found that Thitima had died from extreme alcohol intoxication, citing a blood alcohol concentration of 418 milligrams per 100 millilitres.

There had been speculation that Thitima was given a date rape drug such as GHB.

But the drug rapidly disappears from the bloodstream, making its presence difficult to confirm. Thai media cited police as saying none had been found in Ratchadech’s apartment.

Police are investigating others who may be involved, especially the owner and guests at the house where Thitima attended the party before she died.

Her death has raised interest in the dark side of the life of a pretty.

Women and Men Progressive Movement Foundation director Jaded Chouwilai said the case reflects the high risks of abuse, both sexual and non-sexual, toward women in that specialised service sector.

The foundation has studied the cases of young women working as sales promoters at beer drinking outlets nationwide, including pop-up booths.

It found that all suffered some manner of abuse: being forced to drink large amounts of alcoholic beverages, molestation, and other physical and verbal attacks.

“In the case of Lunlabelle, it happened in a private place and she was there all by herself and heavily drunk. Therefore, her risk of being attacked was much higher,” He said.

Jaded said that stereotyping and discrimination against this group of workers meant they drew little sympathy from the government and society at large.

“They need protection from being abused, just like other workers,” he said.

Thitima “Bell” Noraphanpiphat’s 3-year-old daughter blew birthday cake candles on what would have been Thitima’s 26th birthday in front of her coffin at a funeral in Bangkok, Sep. 19, 2019.

BANGKOK — Police said Friday no one has been charged yet over the death of a popular model earlier this week, in which her family suspects possible foul play.
A police spokesman said the police commissioner himself has instructed every officer involved to resolve the case. Thitima “Bell” Noraphanpiphat, 25, was found dead in a condominium lobby some time after a man was seen carrying her, unconscious, into his room.

Thitima, who had over 130,000 combined followers across two social media platforms, was described by her friends as a hardworking woman who took her modeling career seriously. She is survived by her partner, 31-year-old Nathanai Homthienthong, and a 3-year-old daughter.

A Bangkok native, Thitima started working as a pretty – or promotional model – in 2016 after graduating from Rangsit University, according to her peers. She was featured by many men’s magazines and a regular participant in model-related contests.

Apart from working as a professional MC, she has appeared on popular TV shows like “I Can See Your Voice” and several music videos.
At Thitima’s funeral on Thursday night – which would have been her 26th birthday – her friends and family members blew candles on a cake in front of her coffin. Thitima’s last Facebook post before her death said she would be working on her birthday.

Thitima’s family said they will not cremate her until an investigation into her abrupt death is completed.

CCTV footage at the condominium where she was found dead shows a man, later identified as 24-year-old Rachadech Wongtabutr, carrying her unconscious body into his room. He was seen taking her down to the lobby several hours later.

A preliminary examination suggested she died of an acute heart attack and identified signs of rape on her body. Rachadech has denied any wrongdoing.

Although some on social media suspect she might have been drugged and murdered, police spokesman Krissana Pattanacharoen said Friday investigators have to gather more evidence before pressing charges against anyone.

Nevertheless, the spokesman also said the Metropolitan Police have pledged to come up with progress in the case “within the next 48 hours.”

There’s just simply too many people in this world to rescue
Froggy is an avowed rescuer for sure. Just that he has his specialization. He is "diver" type of rescuer.
