And the irony is that the IB was originally designed for poor students around the world who couldn't afford going the traditional A level route. Only in Singapore does the reverse happen. Which also explains why the rich Singapore IB students top the IB exam rankings around the world every year, even moreso than A levels (for which RJC is internationally well known for ranking #1 in having the highest % of its students entering the elite Ivy League Universities, among all high schools worldwide... coz elite rich parents of RJC kids can afford overseas Ivy League Universities, combined with the Asian education kiasuism culture where Singapore already tops the world in education rankings like PISA & TIMSS, of which RJC is already the elite of the elite in Singapore).
 
if you are rich, u can take the easier route to better grades.

Common sense question. If IB is widely available in our public education, the gay curriculum planners in MOEs will lose their jobs. Some of them are also dope-takers.
 
IB are not so reliable.
as I know, IB was created by PAP because their children can score very good in project based assessment instead of traditional close book hall examination,

how do i know that? many of them hire private coaches to help these children to complete their project or essays.
some even ask specialists in USA / Europe to help them in projects and essays.
 
IB is crap lah. Asians love it for god knows what reason.

We attended a presentation on IB program. 90% of the audience were Asian parents. Chinese, Indians, middle easterners.

It is useful if you plan to study in Europe or UK. If you plan to study in North America the advance placement AP program is just as good and more mainstream.

My daughter topped her middle school and she is taking AP. Most of her Asian classmates in middle school who CMI went to schools offering IB because their parents wanted to be able to say their son or daughter was in IB school like some kind of prestige. Turns out they are so lousy the IB program won't let them take IB in the end. So a lot of these schools are so called IB schools but not all the kids are in IB program. In fact many are damn lousy.

Those that take IB get stressed out due to pressure from the school and parents with very high rate of mental health problems.

Crappy Asian mentality.

IB is made to sell to stupid Asians. Pian Asian lah.

Its actually the opposite. It was indeed designed for the expats, diplomatic corp and those who are rich enough to live in exotic locations but want their children to accepted in the elite schools of the west and a common acceptable standard was required. IB is also more expensive as there are additional fees and a mandatory component requires an overseas trip or internship that also cost money if your family is not connected

By the way the global rating is misleading as schools in Northern Hemisphere and the West take the exams in May. Very few countries take it in November. The ratings are therefore based on which exams you took.

IB however is of much higher standard in all disciplines and everyone should be encouraged to take it. Generally it is equivalent to 1st year in many Universities. In addition provisional admission to Ivy League and Oxbridge via IB provisional scores is also faster albeit it most cases they are conditional.

More importantly the IB development component and approach makes sure that you do not end up like PAP educated zombies who are good and compliant but can't think for themselves. As students have to sit for same identical paper in which ever country they are in, the PAP has no say whatsoever.

learning is a life long process. i dun believe that by going to what IB programme, the kid will become genius. nowadays, got google, i think that's good enough even if you dun attend proper school. the good about google is because it's relevant to today's world.
 
You are born a genius and not nurtured. If you have the capacity to go to a good university such as Oxford, why settle for something that does not push and develops you further to your full potential.

The issue is usually the parents who push their kids way beyond their potential and damage their learning experience. Asian parents who are now called Tiger parents do just that every where they go.

Caucasian parents tend to be more realistic. Their kids are also more independent and are prepared to tell their parents. The fallback rate (the rate where a student who signs up for IB in the first year and then ask to go back to general curriculum of the country with the first year is much higher in the West than in Asia for this reason.

At Sir Winston Churchill high school in Calgary they say that once you are in IB you cannot opt out of IB!

I was thinking WTF? Prison?

Anyway as I looked around the auditorium and saw all the Asian faces I was like this is just bullshit.

My daughter said she wasn't interested in IB and I said good. It is for Asian pricks.

Thats tough and not right when you can't opt out of IB. I even met a Physics Teacher who taught IB for a few years who wanted to step down and go teach regular curriculum as it is demanding on them to.

There is a school in Kent UK that does IB very well. It however is away from London and any of the busy towns, good for immersing oneself.

It seems that there is the cult group educationist go round the schools to spot clever kids. Then put them into their programs hoping to send them to Harvard to prove their programs work.

This con man educationist artists are just putting lobsters on their food table at the expense of stupid parents.

A clever or talented person hv to grow up naturally to find his likes to do things he wants. He may hv talent in fried Kuay tiow and not necessary push to do thing which these fuckard con man educationist channeled him to do.

There is a cult group of educationist (in PhD and doctor dressing) going around the world spotting for talent students in high schools. It is a conman jobs to prove their program works. Then put lobsters on their food tables at expenses of stupid government and parents.

They don't want to leave talented kids alone. Kids maybe talented as they grow up and do well academically and their interest to do things shd be left for them to decide.

Some may hv talents to be porn stars or porno sites specialist like Sam Leong.
