remember sintercom?

Aside from the usual worries about having their identities exposed cos the new forum is directly under sam so he gets to see all ips

It is this sort of ignorance that I find ridiculous given the fact that the internet has been around for more than 2 decades.

Your IP address tells me nothing just as my IP address tells you nothing. It's not like a phone number. I'm currently logged on via 125.239.31.216.

If you do an IP lookup, it tells you the following :

Does that reveal my identity? Of course not. All it says is that I'm using telecom as an ISP.

If I reboot my modem, the number will change.

most of us are given dynamic IP addresses but folks like to have a sense of over-inflated ego thinking they are special enough to be assigned a static IP address hence being "traceable" :D:D:D

Even with a static IP address, I'd have to get inside info from the telco before I could find out who it was assigned to.

Don't want to sound paranoid but this is Spore. Many people didn't realise how intrusive the Spore system is until they found out that Singtel was recording all foreign telephone calls. Microsoft was using the internet to track people who were using bootlegged copies of their software & taking them to court.

If it is so easy for companies to do this. Can only imagine what the gov't can do.

The issue was not about governments tracking. It was about the fact that when I moved from Delphi to vbulletin, I'd be able to track IPs of each member.

If the governments want to track someone down, it wouldn't make any difference where I hosted this forum. They can capture all the packets using the government mandated proxy servers that all sinkie ISPs have installed.

In the Delphi days I don't remember the forum being as politicized as it is now. There are now so many IB flunkeys here.

Maybe they have always been around but I didn't noticed because I was more interested in FR's:confused:

It was just as politicised, but we may have been distracted by the sexy FRs. :p

I recall the aforementioned kakia Erico once posted this comment: "She will suck you dry."

Nowadays you will never hear the modern-day kakia TFBH posting good stuff like that. The most he will tell you is how much the "high-end" whores cost. :D

more intriguing for me are the blood feuds between lancheowman and cheebyewoman and between ahbengsong and cheapjustice. :p

lancheowman is still very much a part of this forum. I'll give you a "Spot On!" if you can pinpoint the clone he is currently using most often. ;)

Hint: It's not scroobal. :D
