Reform Party supporter plays the race card against WP

That must be the reason when he begged his smart brother to join and help him in politics.

This, perhaps, remains the strangest part of the whole story. During the 1990s many people thought the other brother would be an opposition politician. No-one even knew KJ existed as he was out of Singapore. As things turned out, KJ returned and joined opposition politics, only to become a complete disaster. While the other brother, the lawyer, has effectively been opted into the Establishment and sits on several boards, including the PSC and on one of the local universities.

The other brother has declared that he has politics in his blood, but now KJ has put him to a difficult position,it might be a distator if he were to join KJ,but going into politics not on side of KJ is very difficult to imagine,it is difficult for PJ.

How do you know that? The other brother, Philip, shows no indication of being in politics. Quite the reverse.

PJ is Managing Partner at Rodyk and previously with Yeo Cheow Tong's wife, Helen. No way he will enter politics.

KJ supporters are desperate, but I am not sure KJ is supporting this move,as to do so would mean the end of RP,the most promising opposition when it started off not long ago,I pity KJ who must be very down although he did some good works for us.I hope KJ would take the right decision to set him off to a new life again.

So did PAF get sanctioned from RP/KJ? If RP/KJ chose to keep quiet about this, does that mean they condoned and agreed with PAF's behavior/opinion?

Just as some Oppo had in the past, came out publicly to claim/reject certain agenda, RP/KJ could, should and must make a stand on whether they are pursuing a racial based agenda.

KJ can't even control himself, otherwise he wouldn't be in this elections. If he can't control himself, do you think he can control his supporters? This is no win for RP. If RP was properly run, none of his supporters would do this. If this was WP, then WP will make a public statement that this sort of behaviour is unbecoming of a WP member and fire him.

Anyway i think the death of RP will be good for everybody.

Other opposition parties can expand onto the territory that RP used to take.
KJ will be saved from further embarrassing himself.
The RP supporters will be able to work for a better boss in the future.

Everybody wins.

How can earth can ST publish this type of forum letter? No need to verify anything on their part? ST stirring shit on behalf on PAP. Tasteless.

Yeah the malay/indian volunteers and members i have came across and worked together with in the WP are not only 'honorary' chinese but they speak mandarin better than most of the chinese i came across there. Believe or not?

I READ with surprise Mr Paul Antony Fernandez's letter yesterday ("Workers' Party lacks minority representation?"), which claimed he did not see any Workers' Party (WP) member from the minority races during its Punggol East by-election victory parade.

This was an unfortunate oversight by Mr Fernandez, a fact borne out by The Straits Times' reportage and publication of pictures from the WP's by-election victory parade, the same day Mr Fernandez's letter was published.

In addition, the party's minority MPs and members were involved in the Punggol East by-election campaign from Day One - supporting MP-elect Lee Li Lian on Nomination Day, visiting residents, speaking at election rallies and helping to hand out campaign materials.

Yet other members and volunteers from the minority races were involved in the logistics coordination for the by-election and, like their fellow members, did themselves and the WP proud.

Mr Fernandez then went on to query if WP secretary-general Low Thia Khiang had forgotten our national pledge, which enshrines equality, regardless of race or creed.

The WP is a multiracial party that celebrates a multiracial and multicultural Singapore. One of the party's aims, enshrined in its Constitution, is "racial equality in practice in all spheres of public activity and equal respect in law for all racial cultures".

Like any serious political party in Singapore, the party's doors are open to Singaporeans of all races. All our members, regardless of race, accept that in order for the WP to operate as a responsible and credible party, it is vital that we move forward as a team. The WP looks forward to more Singaporeans of all races joining our ranks in future.

Dug out an old thread from Sammyboy forum which is quite telling about PJ's views on KJ. He is caught in a difficult position and I notice that since then, PJ has never given another interview to anyone.

Ah, PJ's wife Cindy, I remember....she thought me English Literature in secondary school....remembered her, very critical of the PAP govt, in fact, she was so outspoken on this that we thought ISA was coming any time to get her.

Pritam has issued a very measured and dignified response to what was a highly provocative and incendiary letter by PAF.

Oh. A response from Pritam, a candidate from a minority race in WP's Aljunied GRC team for GE 2011, even though the mandatory minority candidate slot had already been filled.

Looks like those chaps who have been successful in WP, don't see any racial issues in the party. LTK obviously wanted him in his "all-eggs-in-one-basket" team and Pritam was only glad to oblige.

Those who have not been successful, don't be disgruntled or upset. You can achieve great things in other fields.

Brother ROH,saw it in none other than ST,it was an interview with Philip, perhaps you can dig out that interview,I do not have suscriptioin with them, cheers

PJ as a brother of KJ must have known well how carzy is his brother KJ,which we all know now, with only 300+ votes in Pongol,so PJ decided not to get involved.cheers
