Tourist asking for drinks. Is it a scam?

General

I went to buy some stuff for myself in 7 eleven near my house and then a lady from Nigeria approach me asking me for a drink, said she didn't have money to get a drink and that she only have korea won. So I ask her if she want to exchange her korea won with SGD. She say her money is in her bank and said she's fine if I buy her a coke or something to drink. So, eventually out of kindness I buy for her since its like $1.50 and I'm in hari raya spirit.

But I also find it very suspicious like why is she at 7 eleven store not near any MRT station or any place and why did she even enter 7 eleven store if she knew she don't have money to pay.

plus she mentions about going to a church nearby my house because she was invited by them.

Thank God it wasn't like a $5 or $10 thing la but still i find it very weird.

Is this a new scam we locals should be aware of?

Most young girls will be hanging out in top end hotel pubs and lobby hoping someone will buy them drinks and offer free lodgings

Bad times, sometimes u meet young prc gal at mrt asking u for small financial assistance.

tell her U buy her the drinks and bring her home to drink it together ... and piak piak in exchange ... :whistling:
