Ceca ex-colleague been charging his phone bill to my personal credit card

Left a company a while back, and my CECA ex-colleague (dude was all talk no action, bloody annoying) wanted to take over my Circles Life line which I used for work and the company was reimbursing me for. Fair enough, he could handle clients and queries.

The transfer of ownership process was tedious, and they wouldn’t let me remove my personal credit card tied to the account during the handover. If I canceled it, the line would be terminated.

I told him multiple times to update the payment to his card ASAP. A few months ago, I reminded him again and notified him of the payment he owes me. He claimed there were “issues” with using the SIM, but that’s between him and Circles Life. On my end, the transfer was complete and only he has access to the app/account.

My bad that I completely forgot about it for a while because I usually just use this card for subscriptions, Apple Store purchases, and misc bills.

Fast forward to now: I noticed circles life has still been charging me. My personal card is still on file, he hasn’t swapped it despite multiple reminders. He has been knowingly letting my credit card be charged for his bills. I texted him again last night with a breakdown of payment and informed him to remove my card and swap it out with his. He has yet to respond.

Yes I know I probably have to cancel my card which is a hassle as it’s tied to multiple of my own payments. Payment he owes me is only $60+, it isn’t much but it’s the principle and I abhor that dude.

Reddit, what’s the move if I wanna be petty? Or should I just let it go?

Edit: For those who suggest reporting it to police, will they entertain this? Since it’s just a small amount.

Cum Lan Kia… just bloody terminate the freaking line…. Already leave the company… keep the stupid line for fuck….

Please make a Police Report. If your personal credit card remained linked to a company phone line after you left, and the colleague or company kept allowing charges to hit your card after being told repeatedly to remove it, that can move beyond “admin negligence” and into something legally serious. At minimum, it may support a civil claim for reimbursement. If they knowingly let your card continue to be used without your consent, it could also potentially raise issues of dishonest misappropriation, cheating, or unauthorised use of payment arrangements under the Penal Code, depending on who knew what and when.

The practical distinction is this:
  • If it was a genuine oversight, and I doubt it was in this case - it is usually a civil / employment / reimbursement dispute.
  • If he knew your card was still linked, promised to remove it, but intentionally kept using the line anyway, that is much more serious and justify a police report as well as a demand for repayment.
What you should do now:
  1. Cancel or replace the card or block that merchant/recurring charge with your bank immediately.
  2. Dispute the charges with the bank as unauthorised or no-longer-authorised recurring charges.
  3. Send the company a written demand with dates, screenshots, statements, and your prior reminders, asking for reimbursement by a fixed deadline.
  4. Make a police report to cover yourself.
