Redditer: Anyone ever had a Grab merchant refuse to fulfill an order and tell you "just cancel if you can't wait"?

anyone ever had a Grab merchant refuse to fulfill an order and tell you "just cancel if you can't wait"?

General
r/askSingapore - anyone ever had a Grab merchant refuse to fulfill an order and tell you just cancel if you can't wait?

(reposting here after censoring as my original post was taken down for naming the shop )

had one of the most absurd food delivery experiences this morning with my colleagues, and i'm curious if anyone else has run into this kind of behavior from other GrabFood merchants before. timeline is roughly as follows:

  • 7:20 AM: confirmed our GrabFood order (total about 8 pax, each getting a bowl of noodles), app said it would arrive around 8:30 to 9 AM
  • 9:00 AM: checked on the app which indicated that food was 'ready for pick-up', and a driver was already assigned. however, no sign of the driver having picked up the order.
  • 9:24 AM: after waiting about 20 minutes, we checked with the driver to see what was going on as we were feeling quite hungry by now.
  • 9:38 AM: driver replies in Mandarin, relaying what the stall owner told him: "商家说这个生意他不想做,叫我取消订单 // 他们说可以等就等不可以等就取消" (rough translation: "the merchant said he doesn't want to take this order, and told me to cancel it. they said if you can wait, then wait; if you can't wait, then just cancel.")
things that were particularly frustrating: firstly, why accept a scheduled order and mark it as "ready for pick-up" if you never intended to make it? additionally, it also felt like the merchant tried to shift the responsibility onto the driver, as from our end, it looked as if the driver was the one who was late or refusing to pick up the order.

wondering if anyone else has experienced a stall ghosting or straight-up refusing to fulfill an order after keeping it open for hours? and yes, a few of us have already complained directly to Grab too, just posting here to spread awareness & see if anybody else has encountered this before
