Any victims of Project Wolbachia?

General

Yesterday was Tuesday again, one of the scheduled male Wolbachia-Aedes mosquitos release days of the week, besides Friday.

One of my family members forgot that it was Tuesday and left the main door open for a while. That's it, our legs started getting tickled constantly (they really did not bite), and we ended up killing around 30–40 mosquitoes with an electric swatter again.

Once they come in, they do not seem to leave. Their favourite spots are around the main door, under the dining table, on top of the laundry basket, on the curtains in our bedrooms, on our blankets, under office chairs, in the bathrooms, etc.

I understand, and still do support, the purpose of Project Wolbachia and the government’s active efforts to fight dengue fever. However, what I do not understand is why the mosquitoes seem to love our house so much. We did not have a mosquito problem before Project Wolbachia.

We have rechecked all potential breeding grounds and searched for stagnant water, but found none. We even bought drainage covers to cover the drains, but nothing has helped. We also asked our next-door neighbour whether they are experiencing the same issue, but they said they have not noticed any significant increase in mosquitoes.

My question is: is anyone else experiencing the same frustration? Or does anyone have any explanation as to why the mosquitoes seem to love our house so much?
