weird economics. why should blue fin meat cost more? are they more delicious? if the fish was cut up and served on a plate, i can't tell if it had blue fins or not.

Or are customers expected to pay more to eat a species on the brink of extinction?
 
Don't know about tuna.

Also find it strange for other more common seafood in the market. Does it mean it taste better or is it because it is uncommon?

Example:

Larger prawns cost more then smaller one per kg.
Bigger crab cost much more per kg.

Just saw the price of a huge Sea Bass, it cost at least twice the standard size per kg?

of course most of all cannot tell the difference....
i cannot even distinguish between deer, chicken, ostrich, crocodile meat.....

Bro , anything that faces extinction got a heavy price for their head .. And humans love to go after those things ( remember limited edition theory ) .. It's human nature .
It's true that the fish taste different and good .0f course to the man on the streets make no different to them . Just like some ppl thinks nasi lemak is just nasi lemak ..

Lots of tuna action just off Sydney's coast every year around June, I think. People cast off standing on the rocks, some have been swept off by the waves and had to be rescued every year.

There are Japanese agents standing by with their specialized vans that can deep freeze a tuna in minutes. They buy catches from the fishermen with cash, deep freeze the fish and sent them directly to their freight forwarders at the airport to catch the next flight to Japan.

Each tuna can be sold for a couple of thousand dollars, depending on the quality, ie fat content, weight etc.

Many Ozzies make their year's salary in just a few days fishing. Unfortunately at that time, I was gainfully employed. Would have love to do it.

Whatever eaten, be it ikan belis or blue fin tuna, it has to end up in the WC via our kar chng.

People casting off standing on the rocks, that action ended something like 20-30 years ago, at least for bluefin tuna. Now, you would be happy to get an Ikan Bilis by casting off the rocks. Once in a blue moon, you will get bluefin tuna move close in to the shore, but not anywhere near Sydney: only in the "Ulu" States, like Victoria, South Australia.

Bluefin are very strong and extremely hard to beat from the shore. Only the really experienced anglers can attempt to catch them.

if ikan bilis are facing extintion today ...then when you eat Nasi Lemak without ikan billis ...i bet many ppl will kpkb ....;)

The Yellowfins will be next....Bluefins will not be extinct but it will be very rare in the future! Yah, the toros are very fatty n nice with bit of soy sauce( no wasabi, pls! )

sorry , i got confuse with that two idoit ..anyway my whole point is ...how can a human stay inside a fish stomach for days ? it does not matter if he is jesus , jonah , mary , peter or john . ;)
