COMMUTERS using the underpass between Orchard MRT station and Tangs Plaza were in for a rude shock yesterday. Instead of finding shelter from the pouring rain outside, it was "raining" inside as well.

The ceiling was leaking water on both sides of the walkway. my paper understands the leaks began at about 1.45pm.

Workers were later seen sweeping away the excess water and diverting leaks to the drains in the underpass.

A Land Transport Authority (LTA) spokesman said that at about 2.20pm yesterday, surface water was found on the floor of the pedestrian underpass after a sudden heavy downpour in the early afternoon.

He said LTA activated its contractor immediately and measures were taken to minimise inconvenience to the public.

He added that the LTA is investigating the cause of the leaks.

PUB: The floods were most probably caused by rain.

LTA: The leaks were most probably caused by water.

Why leak? No one answer the actual problem. Eg maybe crack/ contractor build the under pass cut corner.....................

a matter of time...everyday rain is already a warning...all you need is another 50 year coincidence: high tides, sudden torrential rains, blockages...and you got the receipe for the bangkok happening in orchard road...don't laught at the thais...they're still smiling....just look at sinkie faces when the floods come....no laughing matter.

Remember to wear mulberry rain boots

I have seen a photo of a man hawking one these pairs of rubber shoes but their top lines were much lower or shorter which means you will still get wet if the water level is higher. In the end, your boots will be a burden for your movement when the dirty water gets in.

So, get a wader instead.

Should give you ugly and stupid animals these once in a while, to tell you life is not perfect and to remind you not to take everything for granted.
