MR BENJAMIN Pwee, the Singapore People's Party's 'star catch' at the recent general election has been named as the party's second assistant secretary-general.

A statement released by the party this morning said that Mr Pwee had been co-opted into the central-executive committee with immediate effect.

Alongside Mr Pwee, two others have also been taken into the CEC: Mr Jimmy Lee, who was part of the party's Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC team, and Mr David Tan, a businessman who heads the SPP's SME Businessmen Affairs Bureau.

The changes are seen as a key step in the party's succession planning, with Mr Pwee set to take on a more prominent role in the party.

The SPP also revealed its five-year plan for improving its showing at the next polls. These include setting up party headquarters In Potong Pasir and starting Meet-the-People sessions.

On Thursday, the party announced that Mrs Lina Chiam would accept the NCMP seat.

Very pleased to see that Ben Pwee is staying on and already planning for 2016.
One thing I was concerned about is that some of these opposition candidates' interest would wane after they lost. Not the case with this chap it seems.

He's a born leader and speaker. So sad that he only gets to write Lina Chiam's speeches.

He has the makings of an outstanding leader, unlike Eric Tan whose ego is so inflated. My respects to Ben,

In my opinion, he will be around long after Lina has retired.
This chap is not only talented, he's also quite a unique individual, not your usual typical former civil servant.

If he was the PP candidate, PP wouoldhave been SPP.

If you compare him to the other scholars - Jee Say, Yong Guan, Tony, Hazel, Gerald, Benjamin seems to have the least substance. Vincent and Jeanette are way ahead of him too. Good speaker but nothing concrete. go to Youtube and listen to his speeches and compare them to the rest and you'll see what I mean.

SPP really needs to find more talents and stop the over-reliance on Chiam. Let Chiam fight back for his PP and let Pwee lead a stronger team in B-TP for 2016.
My best wish for now is Pwee not do a CSJ or Desmond Lim.

Perhaps he lacks the necessary exposure and experience, has too varied interests and has just gotten interested in politics recently.
He was a foreign service officer for many years before starting his own firm.
Think that music was one of his majors for his studies.
He may not have had the chance to think long and hard about country issues.

Give him some time, he's certainly not short on intellect, being one year MG CCS's senior in school. Come to think of it, CCS is probably in the same situation too.

Jee Say-Oxford

Pwee--Cambridge

as much as they are similar, it's apples and oranges
