A fire broke out in a fourth-storey flat of Block 422 Tampines Street 41 on the night of Oct 3.
Stomper Allen lived on the second storey.
"At about 11.45pm, my wife woke me up from my sleep after smelling something burning," he recounted.
"I went to my kitchen window and looked out, and replied that it was haze from Indonesia.
"While uttering those words, I heard glass breaking and debris burning. I exclaimed, 'Oh no!' I grabbed only my mobile phone and rushed out of my house to check."

The Stomper met a delivery man in a staircase landing and asked what was happening.
"He replied that one unit in our block was on fire," said the resident.
"I asked him whether he called the fire brigade and he replied yes and I did not need to do so.
"At 11.49pm, my immediate neighbours were also seen evacuated one by one after hearing the fire rattling noise and rushed for the ground floor.
"We positioned ourselves along the newly renovated Tampines North Community Club to look up to the blazing unit. There were some of us at the 24-hour Burger King restaurant inside the CC."
Then they heard sirens.
"At 11.54pm, a policeman was already knocking on our second-level residents' doors, and the firemen were actively in operation to put out the fire at 11.57pm," said the Stomper.
"I 'kowtow' to our police and fire department for their super swift actions. They were very efficient in handling the situation."
He said residents who lived on the second and third storeys were allowed to return to their homes at about 1.40am.
"Those staying at the fourth level were not allowed to return to their residence yet," added the Stomper.
Stomper Peter posted a video of the fire on YouTube.
In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the fire at about 11:45pm.
The fire, which involved a bedroom inside the flat, was extinguished by SCDF with a water jet.
As a precautionary measure, about 80 people were evacuated by the police. Two people were assessed for smoke inhalation and conveyed to the hospital.
Preliminary findings indicate that the cause of the fire is likely from an electrical origin in the bedroom.
