[h=2]PRC permanent resident studying in Singapore Poly sharing thoughts
on May day sequel protest[/h]
Number of View: 2369

Hi. I came across the May Day Protest through a share on my timeline.

I just wanted to share my thoughts.

I am not a Singaporean, I came from China 10 years ago and am currently a PR
studying in Singapore Poly.

I do not know much about politics, neither am I a person who understand what
governing is but I have stayed in Singapore long enough to see how bad the
government has become.

I may be too young to understand government at that young age, but I did
remember a country where the leaders cared for their citizens, when foreigners
were just a small part of the big family.

I remembered people not being able to understand why I came from China, why
did I leave my hometown.

I remembered feeling unhappy when I hear my parents saying that the way
government treats PR and Singaporeans were too different and that PRs have too
many disadvantages.

Then there’s “now”. where you see foreigners everywhere, where you hear them
everywhere and where the initial differences have become benefits for the
PRs.

It has got to the extend that I feel ashamed if others find out I’m a China
Chinese.

I read about their wrong doings, what they did in public, and I feel bad – I
feel sorry for all Singaporeans who have to tolerate the behavior of my own
countrymen.

I know about the 6.9M, and honestly, I feel it is a joke - there’s no way
Singapore can achieve that population growth.

Singapore is not a very big country and currently there are already problems
with housing, what is going to happen when we reach 6.9M?

I have also seen alot of things that my friends share through Facebook,
stories and letters about the wrongdoing felt by the citizens.

It made me want to write one as well. if the government does not listen to
its own citizens, how about the viewpoint of the foreigners whom they
“treasure” so much?

I want to continue living in Singapore – it’s a great country and much much
better than my hometown.

I want to apply for citizenship when I reach 21, but then I read stories
about how other PRs have became citizens and are now criticizing the
citizens.

I begin to think what might others think of me?

I really wish to join all of you at Hong Lim on May Day, but I have school
and i cannot make it. so I decided to share my thoughts here.

If any of you are making speech that day and feel there is something worth
saying here, please, go ahead and use it. it is not the time for Singapore to
screw up, it is a growing beauty and the government is killing it with FTs, just
like there is too much of fertilizer and it becomes toxin.

I’m currently moving to my second year in SP, I study film making so Mr
Gilbert, if I can make it for the rally that day and manage to get my classmates
to help, we can cover the event for you.

I’m not too sure about live stream, but if we can, we will help.
