MBS hoax: Charges dropped

THE man accused of calling the police to say the Marina Bay Sands (MBS) casino was rigged to blow up has had the charge against him withdrawn.

Mr Fang Xing Chi, 30, walked out of court a free man yesterday.

The prosecution gave no reason in court for dropping the case.

However, the police said last night they had charged Mr Fang in the light of the seriousness of the offence. But after further investigations, they applied for the prosecution to drop the charges as they could not prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.

Mr Fang is aggrieved at having been made to spend a week in a Jurong police station lock-up while investigations were ongoing.

Saying he had suffered mentally and physically as a result of being wrongly accused of the prank call, he added: 'In the lock-up, they provided me super lousy food.

Whether he is FT or local aside, key concerns are why was he arrested and put into lockup for few days ?

Why was he fully acquited when the poodles classified it as a very serious offence ?

What is the findings that subsequently found him not answerable to any charges by the poodles ?

What recourse does he have and compensation for the time spent in custody and tarnished reputation ? Today's newspaper highlighted a list of mistaken cases whereby some were executed for crimes they did not commit.

Poodles need to come clean and owe everyone a clear explanation.

Another SAF 'our first priority is to our people' craps ?

am surprised that Shit times choose to wipe over this case, i read this case in zaobao...ok, another shitty paper...apparently he is recalled for NS, and he stays in Johor. In order to save on lodging, he chose to sleep at the void deck and kenna caught when matas came around.

He blamed it "being at the wrong place at the wrong time"
