PR Stunt - Who Will Pay Price of Wrong Message

IN THE United States, in places where residents worry about the value of their real estate, home owners work hard to clean off graffiti as soon as it is sprayed on.

This is because the nature of graffiti is such that it attracts more of the same. It is what is called the broken window syndrome (if one window in a building remains broken, there will be a tendency among miscreants to break others as well).

Now that Singapore Post has started the 'virus', who is responsible when the youth 'catch' it and do more of the same everywhere else? Mind you, they won't stop at mailboxes. Who should pay to clean it up? Taxpayers?

And if the youth are caught and say sorry, is that enough? Why not? If 'sorry' is good enough for SingPost to get away scot-free, why not the youngsters?

With corporate role modelling like this, what kind of youth are we asking for? SingPost should understand the issue here is not 'inconvenience caused'. It is the type of ideas, mindset and attitude that is promoted.

This is a wake-up call to all companies and organisations to practise corporate social responsibility in all they do and not just capitalise on gimmicky, antisocial publicity stunts for profit.

Raising positive, pro-social children today is already tough enough. Don't make it more difficult through thoughtless, selfish actions.

By the way, the display glass panel outside our lift was just vandalised. Should the town council clean it up and send the bill to SingPost? As a resident, I do not want to pay higher maintenance fees because of increased vandalism.

Well done, Ms Adelyn Poh!!

The peasants have all this while been indoctrinated with a belief that these super elite class people are highly intelligent and capable people and worth every cents paid.

And the CEO and the entire senior management staff would continue to receive their fat monthly salary / bonuses / and Performance Bonus. It's disgusting!!
