Porsches more affordable with new financing scheme

SINGAPORE - German sports car maker Porsche's financing arm is teaming up with Hong Leong Finance to enter the high-value car loan business here...

Under the scheme - Porsche buyers can get a loan over a fixed period of three or four years.
The company will then buy back the car at an amount pegged to the outstanding loan value.
..... There are about 2,500 Porsches on the road in Singapore now, compared with 540 in 2000.....The move reflects the growing prominence of the luxury car market in Singapore, say observers. According to sales data, 567 Porsches were sold last year end-November....

Tired of delays in SMRT? Why not buy a Porsche?
For most S'poreans, they would simply envy these lucky 2,500 Porsche owners who probably have more than enough spare cash. They are people who are born with a golden spoon, or have worked very hard to enjoy the luxury of life.

For others especially those in Courtyard Cafe, they would simply means the rich are getting richer - and these owners must be people connected to the you-know-whos and the you-know-whats.

Bottomeline is : Singaporeans are getting richer. They can afford Porshe and probably landed properties farther up north. Lucky Singaporeans.

It certainly shows the PAP have done an excellent job in providing opportunities for the creation of wealth.

All that is needed now is for those who are trailing behind to realise that their fate lies in their own hands and that they too can be driving Porsches in a few years time if they're willing to put in the effort to make it big.

yeah with all the cheap FT and FW, the rich got richer and poor got poorer.

Yes but there is nothing to stop the poor from getting rich. The only thing that holds them back is themselves.

Its a simple financial scheme where there is a balloon price at the end of the financial terms, similar to hire-purchase schemes here. Shouldn't there be something similar for this for other cars as well? The flip side is that because of the balloon size, you are paying more interest during the term. However, it reduces your monthly expenses. Usually, people would just return the car at the end of the term and get a new one after that. No point keeping an old car when you can get a new one every 3-4 years.

Ghosh... first you have myo539 who writes incoherent stuff... then you have singveld who thinks differently from everyone else... who says Porsche is unaffordable? Porsche is not in the same league as Lambo and Ferraris... i bet u jokers dont even know the price of a Boxster, Cayman, or 911s... what a bunch of ignorant people!

Yes? Yes Lanjiao ah! You agreed with your gay dog that the poor got poorer and you say nothing stopping the poor from getting rich. Do you have any idea what you are talking about? Or did i misunderstood that you are trying to prove that Singveld is a retarded gay dog?:D

Agree that in terms of prices here Porsche is not in the same league as Lamborghini or Ferrari....but neither is it in the league of Toyota or Kia.....ask anyone and they will agree that Porsche is a luxury brand.

You are very wrong. Their poverty is what blocked them from getting rich unless they are extremely smart in their studies. Social immobility is a key hurdle. If I apply your argument to your situation, you can very well work in Singapore and live in a large bungalow in Singapore or Johore and commute by private jet throughout the region for your lakes and mountains. The only thing holding you back is yourself.

The ignorant person is you. Porsche is at least as expensive as a Merc or a BMW and we are not talking about the entry models of these. Most people can buy an HDB flat with this money.

If one has to ask the price then probably one can't afford it :o
I think there are more important priorities in life like food, housing, investment for old age, etc...

I remember when I was in Canada, they were advertising Boxsters for under CAN$100,000. If anyone really wants one they emigrate & get one. Anyway a fast car would be useless in Spore. I often see Ferraris stuck in Orchard Rd's slow traffic:)

That's the whole idea - to be seen. If drive at 200 kph, on the highway in the mid of the night, no purpose other than test car coz no one sees you. Ever notice the mannerism of these drivers when they alight from their vehicles? Machiam can fly type. Esp at clubs when they are given a privileged lot at the main door carpark. The shorties machiam taller by 6 inches when walking.

What are you arguing with me about?? My point is precisely Boxsters and Caymans are in the league of the upper ranges BMW and Mercs, whereas 911s are double that price. In Germany a Boxster costs about 35k euro brand new.

I do not disagree to that, i only disagree to the nonsense Myo539 spouts. According to this PAP die-hard ball-licker, people here would cry father cry mother accusing the Porsche owners as "connected" or "born with silver spoon". This is what i refer to as ignorant as you just need to fork out 2k to 3k a month to drive a Boxster, much like the many ah sengs driving BMWs. So Myo539 does not have a clue what he is talking about!

Being book smart won't make you rich. Being resourceful, innovative and persistent will. Many of the richest people in the world came from very humble beginnings.

In another thread, Alamaking is planning to buy a new car to impress his potential new girlfriend. He should buy Porsche.

Hahaha!!! Alamaking in orange jersey driving orange Porsche!!! That's a good one!!! The next shake head song will be orange tree instead of lemon tree. Hahaha!!!

Must be convertible otherwise quite hard to spot jersey in the night.

My favorite convertible was Merz 280C. Well, that's the only convertible I've driven. Not mine. Loan from friend. No horse run. Want any woman also up the car!
