Poorly informed and ignorant Singaporeans - Who is at fault.

Well done bro.

For brocoli again.

Excuse my Neddy Forensic & Digital Fingerprint Detective Inc. I just opened this service 5 mins ago.

This the the best I can do for interested Singaporeans.

Shanmugam, his office fling and his attempts to hide it.
After reading Shanmugam's explanation I am really upset as he is obviously treating us like idiots. Well here is tit for tat.

This is the type of caliber that we have in govt and a cabinet minister at that. This prick was married to the daughter of an SC. While working in Allen and Gledhill, he began an affair with a Chinese colleague. He was having a right royal fling and had no qualms about visiting the various watering holes with her. His favourite lunch hangout was a coffeeshop run by Glen Knight near Hong Lim Green where he and his lady will be busy petty themselves silly oblivious to a wall mounted mirror and that people were watching.

When the wife and her family came to know, our dear minister hatched what he thought was a cunning plot. He duty rostered his Indian lawyer underlings to escort the lady every lunch time to suggest that this Chinese lady prefers the company of Indians. And he was mistaken for one of his staff. Being subordinates, our lawyers and officers of the Supreme Court had little choice but to accept.

So how did the the in-laws finally nail the prick. Obviously they did not hire ISD.

To cut a long story short, after the divorce, he was told to find a wife, so that they can make him a minister. So a quick bang instant marriage was arranged and in a month the marriage was done in Chennai.

The affair is not the issue. The ethics behind forcing his subordinates to escort his girlfriend around is pretty much sub-standard.

Lawyers have a common computer system to access cases. Who dares to unearth cases of prominent elites to put their own career in jeopardy?

自由 平等 博爱 was literally copied wholesale from the French - Liberté, égalité, fraternité.

... but it was only starvation that caused to the chain of events leading to the duo meeting the guillotine. And if historical records are right, they were mostly harmless compared to many others in authoritarian regimes.

When one is well-fed and generally contented in life, people seek to block such negatives out of their lives and focus on the mundane. That is the holy grail of happiness. The secret sauce of the PAP recipe. Not everyone wants to think about aspects of their lives they can hardly control, and can't control because taking to the streets was never an option.

天大地大,吃饭最大。

Whiter Than White Is A Dirty Word

Sinkies are still in denial. They still think that their PAP govt is still whiter than white.

It's like Hitler's Germany - the people just couldnt believe they were at war, or losing, or had an evil dictator, or committing atrocities, genocide, Holocaust, or burning down the Reichstag and blaming the Opposition.

Sinkies still think that without a PAP majority govt, there will be mayhem, riots, economic ruin, and assets value destruction.

"Whiter than white" is actually laundering with a kind of washing powder to make dirt looks white. How can dirt be white ?

As the years go by, the notion that Singaporeans are poorly informed or ignorant just gets worse. I accept that the captive media has a direct impact in view of the PAP and the Govt uses it to slant or avoid any mention of damaging or adverse content. But we cannot blame the press for all our woes in this area.

I am not sure why it is sad that Singaporeans remain ignorant about these personal scandals of the PAP. Even if they were all true, these are hardly the things that topple governments in this day and age.

I think the greatest Opposition achievement of 2011 is the opening of the eyes of Singaporeans to the numerous policy failures of the PAP and how this is adversely affecting their lives. This policy issues of housing, health care, transport, FT policy etc are now well known to your average Singaporean. The myth that the PAP is some kind of wonder government that produces economic miracles has forever been shattered.

PM Lee made a seemingly contrite apology and promised changes. So far we have have seen a lot of political showmanship. Nothing substantial has emerged and it looks increasingly like we will enter the next GE with the issues intact and probably more serious than in 2011.

At the end of the day, Singaporeans are unlikely to care who is fucking who. They do however care if you are unable to deliver good quality of life, the most basic being housing, health care and transport.

yes. well said. housing, health and transport are what can be used to hammer the pap. plus one more, education.

Hi,
These were some of my thoughts

1. People were truly not well-informed and only a small proportion frequent the alternate media. I was overseas in April where WKS was the vip for a contact spore event. He was very popular and a huge excited crowd formed around to take photos with him all smiling and happy. I could not believe it but that was what i saw.

2. Disunity among OP, CST, Lina Chiam, Desmond, disintegration of RP, old CSJ issue, TR attacking WP, and all those negative news. Just look at the amount of abuses GMS had here.

3. New citizens.

4. The importance of brand name. For PAP and WP they rode on their brand names. That would explain why many unpopular pap candidates got elected. The other way for NSP and SDP.

You can say its sporeans fault however those in the opposition camp also need to get their acts together, its not really such a good performance. 60.1% to pap was still quite alot of ground to cover. WP did not seem to have enough quality candidates to take up more areas, they were also riding on brand name. The broken up of RP just at that time was one of the factors they felt comfortable to go. Both camps overestimated KJ in the initial period no thanks to TR. There was drama everyday leading to nomination.

Stop quarreling and attacking one another, it is not worth it.

How would ordinary people know if these are not reported in the news , or hear through gossip ?
So what if i see some well known embracing a woman who is not his wife , the only conclusion i draw is this guy is a flirt.

People who know bad thing are happening should broadcast , is not the ordinary people will be in the dark for ever.

That comment of yours tells me that you have political acumen. Good on you for getting involved.

I said "Putting a young girl that doesnt know about life in a ward full of old people, Good luck" something like that.. And it immediately kicked off everything and everyone started blasting her... LOL... Yahoo being a more "Branded" website coupled with T.R(Thug Reporting) defiantly worked hand in hand to bring PAP to a watershed election..

Welcome back bro. Agree on the delivery failure and this where Singaporeans start to see things in different light. .

Thanks for sharing. I have seen similar scenes in overseas as well. Emigrants hosting dinners for Singapore politicians. GCT used to make contact with them when he was PM. There is PMO function that handles this now.

No arguments about opposition parties doing a better job. With WP success I wonder if they feel if they have duty to educate Singaporeans on the political reality on the ground as well putting their side of the story outside Parliament.

I have serious disagreements with point 2. I think people held back on the village idiot before the GE, otherwise even more finished. Not that the opinion of the VI changed, but we held back to increase chances. What abuses is recently not before GE.

Silvio Berlusconi
Najib Razak
Bill Clinton

Giving people a good life on future borrowed money. Silvo in particular should have done better to reduce debt rather than putting his women in parliament.

Good to be back.

After the 2 elections, I think the PAP was harbouring the hope that things will cool down and Singaporeans will quietly go back to sleep.

So far, it does not appear to have happened. There appears to be continued interest and discussion on the various PAP policy failures. Whatever they do (Bukit Brown, Rochor Center, taxi fare increases), we see ordinary Singaporeans stepping forward to challenge and criticise them. In the past, you could keep track of the critics. These days, they are legion and appear to be just your average ordinary Singaporean.

Watching things unfold, you get the feeling you are watching one of those disaster movies where everybody dies in the end. As the story progresses, you see the various characters twisting, turning and making herculean efforts to try and avoid disaster. There is a certain tragic sadness as you instinctively know that they are doomed to failure and the only unanswered question is how they will die.

I am not quite sure you can quote all three leaders in the same breath. All 3 were cheongsters but they adopted policies which were completely different. Bill Clinton for example balanced the US Federal Budget. It was Alan Greenspan and the money masters of Wall Street who screwed America by using fancy terms and complicated math to disguise the fact that they were lending money out to people who were bad credit risks.
