No I read that he was the ex malacca chief that attracted and brought 5000 merchants from malacca to follow him to Spore to set up shop and that’s why Spore can thrive as a trading post.

Farquhar demonstrated a laissez faire attitude, a strong believer of order in chaos. A true maverick if you will, daring enough to move out of his comfort zone.

6.9k “merchants” a.k.a. triad gangsters to be exact. he allowed and appointed triad leaders as caretakers and protectors of their syndicates, and they gave him a cut of their ill-gotten gains. that was how the british buffoons operated in melaka, penang, and then sinkapore without upright supervision from raffles. in penang, you can still visit the mansion of triad king. he ran penang’s vice, prostitution rings, gambling dens and opium trading like a mafia lord, and all his criminal activities including murder and debt slavery were condoned by his british masters. same in melaka. same in sg. appoint a ruthless top gangster in charge and everything would fall into place in chinatown.

that was why sinkapore atrracted the worst from fuking province. prostitutes, debt slaves, coolies, unmarried due to poverty, poor looks, congenital disease, poor genetic stock. always cursing and blaming others for their self-inflicted shit. that poorest of poor attitude among sinkies carries to this day.
