Police smash loansharking syndicate with 7 suspects arrested

SINGAPORE: Police have smashed a loansharking syndicate with the arrests of seven suspects.
In an 11-hour long operation by the Criminal Investigation Department which ended early on Thursday morning, they arrested the suspects in various parts of Singapore.
These are in the public housing estates in Canberra Road, Jurong West, Ang Mo Kio, New Bridge Road, Yishun, Ghim Moh and Tampines.
During the operation, cash, laptops, mobile phones and ATM cards allegedly used for loansharking business were also seized.
Four of the seven suspects will be charged in Court on Friday.
The remaining three suspects will be released on bail pending further investigations. - CNA/vm
