Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Monday (Aug 25) sent a congratulatory letter to Thailand's new Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha on his appointment.
General Prayuth, Thailand's army chief who spearheaded its latest coup, was formally endosed as Thailand's new leader by King Bhumibol Adulyadej on Monday.
"I wish you every success as you take on the heavy responsibility of restoring stability and bringing about reconciliation among the Thai people," Mr Lee wrote.
"I look forward to working with you for the benefit of our two countries and the region," Mr Lee told Mr Prayuth in his letter, adding that he hopes the new prime minister will make an introductory visit to Singapore soon.
