SOME of the year's most debated political issues will get an airing in Sunday night's National Day Rally.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will address four main themes: The economy, the education system, immigration policy and the Singapore spirit. He will discuss the approaches to these issues, as well as 'how the policies can be improved and refined in order to secure Singapore's future', said a statement from the Prime Minister's Office on Saturday.

The annual address is the most important in the country's political calendar. The Prime Minister usually uses the address as a platform to take stock of the nation's progress, to address issues of fundamental importance and to rally the nation.

The speech will begin at 6.45pm. Mr Lee will speak in Malay and Mandarin first. The segment in English will begin at 8pm.

The speech will be telecast live on all local television channels. It will also be available at the Prime Minister's Office website, www.pmo.gov.sg, and at the website of feedback unit Reach, www.reach.gov.sg/ndrsg.

For the first time, viewers will also be able to follow the broadcast on their smartphones by going to www.ndr.sg on their phones' Web browsers.

Users of social media platform Twitter can also post their thoughts using the tag #ndrsg, or follow tweets from users at twitter. com/Reach_Singapore.

His speech was flawed in many areas. He wanted Singaporeans to give him another 10 years and be patient with him. I don't think this generations will give him another day to flood Singapore. Besides, expect the 154th Shit Times to allot him half of the pages space tomorrow with spices added. I began to feel election is coming soon because there is political tone in his speech. He was saying somone voted for him in the hope to bring luck in his IR's gamble. I wonder which retarded gambler was he referring to. Anyway, the whole family was watching and after it ended, we were not very convinced in his sincerity - it was a repetition of what he said in the past years and nothing has changed much except more sufferings from the ground.

This is definitely the Best Pre-Elections NDR speech I have heard so far because it doesn't involve tactic of giving out ang paos nor "fix opposition" undertones.

Yes, there are many flaws or questions running in our heads when we hear our Prime Minister speaks but for a pre-elections NDR speech, it is really very good. It has deviated from the past PAP's unfair practices and puts up plans to address problems raised in the past one year. This is what a ruling party should do, putting up solutions to problems and using that as their elections platform.

Well, at least as the Prime Minister and leader of the ruling party, he has tried to close up all the gaps on all the potential attacks that opposition parties would put up. That is why, this is considered a Pre-Election rally speech.
