PM Lee "One whole FAMILY earn $1,000/mth can buy flat" (so why you guys complaining?)

Re: PM Lee "One whole FAMILY earn $1,000/mth can buy flat" (so why you guys complaini

Truly a wonderful and caring government.

However, in my opinion, they're giving away too much to the undeserving and this may result in the entitlement mentality amongst Singaporeans becoming more firmly entrenched.

If LKY was still in charge, he would expect people to actually work hard in order to earn their just rewards.

inflation has outpaced the growth of real wages. yet more subsidies will drive inflation up further. they are determined to keep the price of homes high.

On the contrary, PM Lee has calibrated his policies just about right. The new generation suffers from more inequity than previous generations. Note that he has not reversed the PAP's long standing policy of self-reliance. It will be "tough love" as usual, just with a slightly gentler touch.

I am confident Singaporeans will not slacken or become complacent because of the strategic shift. PM Lee is doing the right thing. Let's move to a compassionate meritocracy!

Yeah, and buying an overpriced pigeon hole and saddling yourself with hefty debt is the ultimate life goal for a Sinkie.

A $150,000 three-room flat in Sengkang Fernvale is hardly overpriced. A university graduate who has worked hard for a decade or so could easily pay it up in full without even needing a mortgage - provided of course he has saved diligently.

Back then 2 room flats were for the poor folks.
My family was poor, my dad sole breadwinner did not have cpf as he was self employed and still he was able to afford 3 room flat at least.
In fact since decades ago they have stopped building 2 room flats and 3 room altogether....
Now they bring these tiny flats back....
Pap is moving the country in reverse direction.

Our 2 and 3 room flats are hardly tiny. My ex lived in a 2-room flat with her parents, siblings and there was space for a television set, a small exercise machine, a refrigerator, washing machine, a book shelf, and three coffee tables.

Have you been to the older flats in those poorer neighbourhoods in Hong Kong where the walls are decrepit and lighting is poor? Well I have ten years back. They can't compare to what we had even 10 years ago. And today we have it even better.

150k for a 3-room flat in sg is such a gift, considering local market conditions. if i can buy, i would buy 10 of them and flip them in 5 years for massive profits. unfortunately, it's only meant for sinkies. sinkies must appreciate what the pap gov has done for them. it's an exclusive discount club for locals that foreigners like me can only dream of. :D

My family had 7 persons squeezed into a 3 room flat when growing up....
Are we going to go back to such living conditions?
Is it not the pap leading the country in reverse direction?
Govt always encourage to upgrade in the name of progress.
Please check how they quietly shrinked the size of the various flat types in the last 15 years while upping the selling price many times over.
You mentioned poor areas of hk...precisely why compare with the poor neighbourhoods? Where is the Swiss standard of living?
I googled the size of 2 room flat is about 45sqm...with a single bedroom and bathroom...of course you can squeeze a family of 4 into it...but that's hardly quality living and far from Swiss standard.

Sinkie sell for 'massive profit' already then sinkie becomes homeless....profit not enough to buy another flat as prices are sky high.

You got to excuse OvertheCounter on all his replies to this forum.

As usual, he forgot to take his 'over the counter' medicine again! LoL
