PM Lee:individuals need to also take responsibility for the flood!!

Connive

–verb (used without object), -nived, -niv·ing.

to avoid noticing something that one is expected to oppose or condemn; give aid to wrongdoing by forbearing to act or speak (usually fol. by at ): The policeman connived at traffic violations.

Yo, what's with the dictionary definitions? We are not illiterate. We know the meaning of all these words. Stop being a condescending piece of shit. U can look up condescending if you want to.

When things are going well and doing well, they are quick to claim credit for it. When things are not going well and not doing well, they are quick to blame you for it. What do you call these people? Snake? Rats? Or just MIW?

Knn. They are a bunch of mother fuckers. Ask individuals to take responsibilities.

When BP has oil spill, do they ask everyone to be responsible? Obama called the Chairman and fucked him.

In USA, Obama find the main culprit(who handle the job) to take the blame and fuck him.

In Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong spread out the blame(from the main culprit who handle the job) to every Singaporeans here and make everyone looks like the culprit.

Truly Asia! Truly Singapore!

Singapore Boleh!!!

NEA will soon become private company, so can't expect gahmen to be responsible for future floods...

Scro,

Wait! Don't open the champagne yet! I believe that the MB was designed such that at the very highest level of water in the dam, it will still be lower than the levels upstream at Stamford canal. this is due to the ground gradient. so floodwaters shld still be able to run off seawards towards the dam, or in yr words, sucked outwards from the land.

In civil engineering projects, models are always built and tested before real construction begins. Quite something to think that it was not tested rigorously.

Here is an exclusive - the procedure kicks in when the tide is above a certain height. During the critical period of rainfall that caused the Orchard Rd flood, the tide was actually low. No one thought that opening the crest gates would have helped suck out the water from stamford canal despite its blockage.

What is even more interesting is that the Flood would not have occurred in the first place if the Barrage was not built. If the barrage was not built, due to the low tide, water would have been sucked out as the level at the canal mouth is much lower. This is not a king tide event. All, our previous floods occurred during King Tide. This was human error.

I see your point but I suspect that they actually raised the height close to stamford mouth as the Singapore river is very shallow especially at the mouth.

I called my contact again and she told me that no one had expected the blockage and it was not total blockage. If the water was sucked out of the bay via the pumps, the flow thru the canal would have increased and the blockage would have dislodged. The high level in the bay kept the blockage in place. She told me that King tide status has been in place for years and MB was designed with that in mind. As it was not king tide, the visual monitors were not activated.

I am waiting for the next seating of parliament.

If this was done, that blockage may not even be dislodged. It would have gone undiscovered perhaps till the next heavier prolonged downpour with a more disastrous effect then.

However, I still agree that the bloody blockage was just a convenient excuse because it was a smoking gun.
