PM Lee hopes for 'one team, one leadership' in Singapore

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's comments come after several Opposition parties express interest in contesting various constituencies in the next General Election.

SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said he hopes there will be "one team, one leadership, one ideal and one result" in Singapore following the next General Election.

Mr Lee was addressing Yishun residents at the official opening ceremony of the newly-upgraded Nee Soon East Community Club on Saturday (Aug 1). He first opened the Community Club (CC) on Oct 28, 1995.

Following the release of the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee report, several Opposition parties have expressed interest in contesting various constituencies in the next election. So far, it appears that up to 13 out of 29 constituencies could see multi-cornered fights.

Mr Lee said that with the newly-upgraded CC, Nee Soon residents can forge a close, cohesive and harmonious community. He also said this has been possible with strong support from residents, adding that he hopes this will continue in the coming years.
