I know exactly how you feel.

In Singapore, LNY and CNY has been used interchangeably for the last 100 years. No one bats an eyelid over its usage.

But in recent years, these fuckwits are making such a big hoohaa over it, which made "CNY" such a politically charged term, that I reluctantly use it these days.

While many may not understand the SIGNIFICANCE of the Lunar New Year, MADE MORE SO BY THE DEVIL COMMUNIST MAO WHOM CLAIMED RELIGION IS THE OPIATE OF THE MASSES IN ORDER THAT HE MAY BECOME A GOD ON EARTH, in reality, it is an ANCIENT custom to CELEBRATE the arrival of SPRING, from the often cold bitter winter in the Northern States whereby no farming and little activity can be done.

Ancient China and even present day China is still an agrarian state, whereby it's huge lands were cultivated to feed the People, thus their joy when the cold bitter winter leaves. Although some foreigners had claimed that the Chinese People do not believe in a Supreme Immortal Being, such is a fallacy and NOT TRUE.

Ancient Chinese even right down to the last foreigner that ruled the empire, the Qing Dynasty, believed in the ONE TRUE GOD, and that any Emperor is only the Son of Heaven and receives the mandate to rule thru HIM....and worships HIM in many rituals on behalf of his subjects....

There are NO priests or clerics, and the Emperor was the only CENTRALIZED intermediary between HIM and the Emperor. He called the shots on how, when, why, what that the ONE TRUE GOD be worshipped across the huge land mass of provinces and districts thru his team of scholars whom passed the critical National Wholesome exams in MANY areas of knowledge, to hold appointments in such sectors and areas.

And thus, as China is an agrarian Nation, whom depended on the seasons to cultivate, harvest and FEED its People, the best time for ALL its people to give THANKS to our CREATOR, known by many names across time, space and cultures, is for the end of winter and the coming of Spring that gives hopes and opportunities to all.....
