Due to medical advancements and successful treatment of the disease, its residents may be the last generation to suffer from the disease. With operator Apex Group’s lease on nearby Scala Theatre due to expire in 2016, some Bangkokian moviegoers fear the loss of the city’s charismatic cinematic institutions (along with 100-baht movie tickets) – and being left at the mercy of soulless and expensive multiplex cinemas for their movie fix.
