Peasantpore and Venice - Some parallels in politics I

For rabid peasants who are using coffeeshop logic and language to lambast the regime ought to pay some attention to the Peasantpore's social studies textbook. The chapter on the rise and fall of venice deserves some readings. Astute peasants will detect some interesting parallels between both small sea-faring regimes.

One innocent paragraph claimed the appointment of able civil service servants as naval commanders doomed the Ventian navy to its crushing defeats by the Turks. Another paragraph bemoaned the small talent pool that the Venetian elite selected their leaders, a decaying inbreeding program among the nobles resulted in corruption at the highest level after centuries.

In peasantpore, the regime appoints former top military paper tigers as civil ministers using a version of Japanese Amakudari. This is a repeat of the goondu Doge' mistake of parachuting civil servants as naval commanders. The Doge's naval forces were given a good drubbing by the sea-phobic Turks. One glaring example was allowing the messiah-like promotions of Ruler Loong during his stint as the White Horse National Serf.

If you study the typical military men in Peasantpore, you will realised the dependence on lineage (Patrick Tan) and loyalty (Lui, Tan, Teo) to the regime. Old Baba Emperor may try to hookwink stupid peasants by claiming most military geniuses were sons of founding fathers, one ought to flip military history books and denounce his sham logic. One shortcoming of this setup was during the cable car rescue mission. Ruler Loong boasted his C&C capabilities but omitted the fact he merely followed advice from an unnamed anglo saxon expert. Despite flooding the military apparatus and poodles with scholars, Mas was able to limp his way to safety.

The worse practice of reverse parachuting military paper tiger into public service as pliant politicians. It will doom the nation in later years.

For example, Rear-Arse Admiral Lui was styled the great naval commander who returned to public service. He was chased off a condominium by dogs when he rudely barked orders to the management committee chairman. Apparently Lui thought he had the divine right to step onto private property to canvass for votes.

The fact Ruler Loong boasted of military ties with top armed force brass is nothing but politicking to cement the ruling family's right to power. It doomed Ruler Loong as the leader who will preside the decay of Peasantpore. Ruler Loong, from birth only has vague concept of his birthright to rule.

To be fair, Baba Emperor was well versed in retail politics when his PAP started off as the weakest political force after the Brits and Mats prior to Independence. It forced Baba Emperor to support the peasants superficially and typecast the Brits and Northern Mats as thugs.

Ruler Loong who was parachuted to the military as a general and politics as Prime Minion (Paramount Leader) has no concept of retail politics. He merely perpetuate the top down approach of ruling peasants without sharing the honey with them or leading them.

In addition, Ruler Loong failed to curb the excesses of the noble families. The Lees, Tans and Kwas continued with their selective inbreeding program and their cronies and lackeys laid claimed to important commercial and public service positions. With the exception of Tarman, the deputy Prime Minions has some common law relationship with the Imperial Family. Such nepotism will only result in corruption and weak leadership. The ruler and his minions are only concerned with their birthrights and wealth, paying scant attentions to the woes of peasants.

A good example is the Chinese imperial dynastic system that started strongly with the founder emperor but collapsed/imploded in the hands of incompetent successors who ignored peasants sufferings.

Why do we digress using the Imperial Chinese System? Because it is closest to the Chink's consciousness (Social Studies is a recent subject).

The Peasantpore system is modelled after the short lived Qin system. Numerous harsh laws dictate the behaviour of ordinary peasants in their interactions with the regime. The Qin regime has laws and matching punishment for any infractions. Similarly Peasantpore has numerous laws that ensured no peasant is capable of seditious acts against the regime. Baba Emperor has the concept of whatever benefits his family is good for the state and serfs, lackeys and minions are expected to toil to that end.

Now we must go back to Venice again. The Venice of old was treated as a parasite by the Europeans for it monopolised sea trade with the spice islands. Ventian Doges were fond of playing the European powers against each other and had some dodgy dealings with the Ottomans Turks. The Turks wised up to the game after a series of double crossing make the latter realised the price of Venetian alliance. During the later series of the Venetian-Turkish Wars, none of the Europeans attempted to assist the Venetians despite their common hatred for the moslem Turks.

Baba Emperor puts it most aptly when he says Peasantpore, adopting Legalist Qin style rule is an oasis among the resource rich SEA basket cases. In addition, Peasantpore often plays off powers within Asean by proposing self serving trade agreements and is often decried as the Jew of the Orient. The Indos and Mats nationalists were enraged with Peasantpore sand grabbing adventures and water treaties. The regime is another closet support of the Burmese military dictatorship. Ironically all these fiascoes were made possible with full cooperation of the neighbouring basket cases.

Old Autocrat, like the Doges of yore, courted Chinese favours for his investments but is quick to allow Yankee Man-of-War to dock in Changi Naval Base. Such playing off superpowers will reap retribution in later decades as the Chink and Yanks both sought to establish Peasantpore as the Unsinkable Aircraft Carrier of SEA.
