Rivers and seawaters are terrific cleaners…….if they can flow freely, they are clean !

Dr mahatir was right , if you don’t knock away the ancient relic , build a bridge across, water cannot flow freely , how to clean right ! Nature does things best !

Look at Pasir Ris now……further up to Serangoon harbor near punggol, they pile up containers near cony island, the ugly sight is too much oredi ! They are nuts about waterway oredi !

If the straits water is stagnant , germs and bacteria will flourish along the straits……Pasir Ris and sembawang riverbanks will be affected ! Sinkapore cannot blame Mudland people over the far bank for crapping in the water, squirting into the water, it’s their territory right ! They have no wrong !
Lets not push to the neighbors and get personal and get exonerated !

Pasir Ris beach is wrongly named , it is a riverbank not a beach !

If PAP is for the people, for the cuntry , a clean riverbank along the straits can be done----knock down the old causeway and build the bridge Dr Mahatir proposed !

40 years ago you can catch all the crabs at Sembawang, fish off Punggol jetty. There are even seahorses at Chek Jawa. Pasir Ris really has white sandy beaches. Even dolphins swam into the straits for rich pickings. Now the water cannot clean itself. The population of both countries is growing and sending all the untreated waste into the sea, including all the ship cleanings and sending more toxic wastes. Mother sea cannot renew itself so it give up and die slowly.

All the waste. Imagine similar twin economies across each other like Hong Kong and Kowloon. Underpass right into both cities at most convenient points instead of a winding hill at JB or gridlock at Woodlands. High speed rail all the way to Penang.

Instead we built a line of coastal fences to snub at Malaysia. And would rather drink our own shit instead of rain water.

Mahathir wanted to demolish the causeway because the canal that runs along Jalan Wong Ah Fook and the rest of JB was so polluted that he had to cover it up to hide the blacky water. You can still see the blacky water through the broken concrete holes along many parts of the walkway.

There were so many warnings about the polluted straits on the Malaysian side (from palm oil and urban waste). Even the shopping centre built along the Straits to the left of the causeway remains empty and a white elephant for so many years already. They now tried to develop farther away at Danga Bay.

So Mahathir wanted the causeway to be demolished so that the polluted water from the canals and rivers in Johor can be washed to the Singapore side.

Maybe you guys should forget about what Mahathir or Badawi or other politicians said and think about what should be done. Like I said, politics aside.

Building an impermeable barrier across the Straits goes against nature's design. As for those Palm Oil plants, Marine failities and Container Ports, etc. etc.; they are all INDIVIDUALLY responsible for taking care of what they pump out; period. The rest of the citizens should be able to enjoy fishing, crabbing and the "beach" their Ah Kongs did. The Brits built the causeway the way it is because that was the cheapest way to do it; but them POMs didn't have to stay put, someone else had to. And if these someone else don't raise shit, no one else would.
