The Singapore Police Force has contradicted a parent’s claim that strangers tried to lure their son into a van as he was walking back home from Westwood Primary School in Jurong West.
A screenshot of the parent’s police report is circulating online and shows that the incident allegedly occurred yesterday, 23 Jan. The 10-year-old boy apparently claimed that he reached home later than usual yesterday because he was allegedly harassed by a stranger who tried to persuade him to enter his vehicle.
The boy claimed that he was walking back home from school around 1.20pm when he linked up with his friend Hazif from the nearby West Grove Primary School. The boys were allegedly walking towards the junction of Jurong West Street 72 and Jurong West Ave 4 when the boy noticed a grey van driving slowly alongside him and his friend.
The parent reported:
“The van came to a halt and the passenger who was a Indian man with mustache winded down the vehicle window and told my son to get in the van lying to him that they are there to fetch my son as instructed by me.”
The boys apparently grew afraid and ran home. The parent reported that her son said that the van was driven by a Chinese man in his 50s and that the boy did not take a look at the van’s license plate in his haste to get away.
The parent concluded the report by adding that they do not have any suspect in mind nor do they have a dispute with anyone.
