The incident took place during recess period.

A Primary Three student from River Valley Primary School (RVPS) was allegedly bullied by another student from the same level during their recess period on Monday (Oct. 6).

The father of the alleged victim took to TikTok later that night to describe what had happened.

Father alleged that the "bully" had punched his son

In the video, the father alleged that when his son sat down to eat his food, another student, whom he referred to as the "bully", snatched his wallet and ran off.

His son chased the "bully", but was allegedly punched by the "bully" after catching up to him.

According to his father, his son suffered a concussion and felt dizzy afterward.

The victim later went back to his table to sit, but the "bully" reportedly snatched his snack away and ate it.

In the video, the father also expressed anger over the way the school had handled the matter, claiming that teachers had brought his son to the school's general office and did not call for more medical assistance.

"What [are] River Valley Primary School teachers doing? You know my son telling you he's feeling dizzy, you all put him in the sick bay and sit there. You should have [gotten] a paramedic to check on him."

He added that he had to call the police and ambulance himself upon arriving at the school.

He also said that he and his son arrived at the hospital at around 2pm, but were still waiting to see the doctor at about 7:24pm.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force confirmed with Mothership that they received a call for assistance at 2 River Valley Green on Oct. 6 at about 1:15pm.

One person was conveyed to KK Women's and Children's Hospital.

Wants to engage a lawyer

The father had apparently wanted to speak to the "bully", not to scold him, but to make him understand how serious the situation was.

However, he claimed that the school refused to let him do so, stating that they wanted to handle the cases separately and would inform the other student's parents about what happened.

The father added that he had filed a police report and intended to engage a lawyer.

"[My son] is suffering and he's afraid to go to school now," the father said.

RVPS' response

In response to Mothership's queries, RVPS said that they are aware of an incident that involved three Primary 3 students, referred to as Students A, B and C.

The students were aged between eight and nine years old, and the incident took place during recess on Monday.

Following internal investigations, RVPS found that Student A had taken Student B's wallet and snack.

Student B and his friend Student C, then chased Student A around the canteen.

During the chase, Student C accidentally hit Student B’s lips with the wallet during the tussle.

The school clarified that Student A did not “punch” Student B, as was alleged by Student B's father in the TikTok video.

RVPS said that it will help the students "learn from the incident and work towards a positive resolution of the matter".

It is also currently in the process of engaging the parents of the students involved, to share what had transpired during the recess incident so that they can monitor their children's wellbeing.
