I also don't support NS for foreigners. Trust and train them with firearms? Think about it. .
Are this "heavily armed people" not in our midst already?
Look around. See the name-tags on their uniform. It conveys a thousand words...
I also don't support NS for foreigners. Trust and train them with firearms? Think about it. .
One main role of a govt is to better the lives of its citizens.
Is the pap doing that for Singaporeans?
Absolutely not. PAP is doing that only for its GLCs and foreigners. The late Dr Toh Chin Chye had as far back as the early 80s knew that the PAP had changed direction totally from its original objectives when he first founded the party. He knew that the PAP was starting to abandon the social responsibility of taking care of the citizens well-being and instead focus on growing the GDP at all costs, expanding and enriching the GLC, parachuting civil servants and army generals into the PAP (who has zero knowledge of the ground situation) and paying them out-of-the-world salaries. He knew LKY had betrayed his co-founders.
It mentioned Justice and Equality.
I agree with you.
And with the internet, new and social media, the pap cant hide anymore. More Singaporeans will get to know the truth of the pap
LKY, the alpha and the omega.
He is the beginning and also the end.
He thought he could get away and solve all problems just
by importing more and more immigrants.
He forgot that these new immigrants, just like sgreans need to be taken
care of.
He still thinks that he and his party can shred all social responsibilites and just
focus on GDP, GDP, and more GDP.
Never mind that sg being such a small island, has limited resource, and that this new immigrants is straining the
sgrean society.
Such is the irresponsible garment that LKY has created.
No wonder he is so rentlessly encouraging and more and more immigrants,
the more the better.
Why? Because he thought he can just cast them aside when things go bad,
just like how he cast off the sgreans.
More growth and GDP, no welfare. When times are bad, You die your business.
Such is the garmen model of LKY and his party.
I would say justice and equity, instead of equality.
Not everyone should get the same rewards or contribute the same amount.
But everyone should get what they deserve and contribute what they can or are able to.
It is a proven fact that generally, women are physically weaker than men, hence they should serve NS in ways that are appropriate.
Nursing, logistics, clerical work, the tough ones can do the physical stuff if they choose.
No across the board welfare, but investigation into worthy and deserving cases, e.g. when the guy has been working hard but suffered some misfortune and hope for his children.
Stop having charity organisations ask donations from individuals on the streets.
Ministars and other public officials who contribute little should be allowed to find their own way in the private sector.
That's very true. Try (desperately) as people like Leongsam and sleaguepunter to defend LKY's policies, it is now plain for all to see that this present PAP has abdicated its social responsibility of looking after its people (a most fundamental role of any govt actually). This is getting clearer increasingly as more and more PAP policies will start to falter and like u said, more Sporeans will get to the know the truth of the PAP. Leongsam and company will have their hands full to defending their PAP masters. But it doesn't matter, that loser has nothing to do in NZ anyway despite being offered a $1600 dishwashing job.
Equity is different from Equality.
The SG Pledge says Equality....not equity
jw5 said:My belief is that it should be equity.
People get rewarded based on what they deserve.
Only people who are deserving get unconditional help.
People who are useless should not be rewarded.
Finally it all boils down to what is fair. Some inequality is OK but if the inequality is such that one achieves such a high income at the expense of the others, bringing upon them hardship, you have a societal time-bomb waiting to explode. If leaders cannot change this mindset and address the present problems to avoid the impending doom, they don't deserve the high income inequality they receive.
Yes, and that is what I term as being "equitable".
Sometimes, when we use the term "fair", there will be people (usually the lazy loud mouthed obnoxious ones) who think that means they should be having a life as good as the smarter hardworking people.
Someone should tell them that life is never totally "fair" and to get smarter or more hardworking.
But to highlight that many S'poreans are under the wrong impression that those who had been left out of the economic growth are people who are good-for-nothings and don't try hard enough.
Believe me, these people would be grateful to be able to hold down a job more permanently. They never ask for more, just to live actually.
He also said that given the tight labour market, the company has had to increase salaries. For example, in the past year and a half, they had to increase the pay of a dishwasher from S$800 to S$1,600.
He said that about half of the company's 670-strong workforce is Singaporean, but the group usually can't get locals to apply for the openings.
No, I don't have that impression and understand the situation in SG.
My point about the pap is that they have always tried to "help" people, but the people they end up helping are almost always the laziest and the loudest, not those who are working hard but still can't cope or those who have illnesses or disabilities.
The despicable type go to their mps and kpkb and get food and grocery vouchers. They can then buy their plasma tvs or go on vacation. This is the type that needs to be rooted out and condemned.
The hardworking or unfortunate lot however, tend to suffer in silence or keep their noses to the grindstone or try to maintain dignity. These are the people who should be helped and especially give their children opportunities.
My point has always been that this government end up helping the wrong people and the cycle continues.
They should be runing the country like a family, where you help out the hardworking or those who have misfortune, and at the same time berate and condemn those who gamble or drink their money away. Not run the country like a profit making enterprise and always looking to pay the management big bucks and replace the weak workers with outsiders.
Anger is boiling over in Hong Kong.
Residents are unhappy over the influx of mainland Chinese, who are taking over their roads and hospital beds.
Protests are occurring more often against policies favouring the mainlanders.
............In 2010, of the total newborns .....around a third....were born to mainland women. ......... grassroots resentment is on the rise. ...........
A recent video comparing mainlanders to a swarm of locusts has been viewed widely online. Advertisements were also placed by angry locals in the newspaper, featuring the slogan "Hong Kong people have had enough!" .................
In a recent poll, only 17 percent of Hong Kong residents identified themselves as Chinese citizens, the lowest level in 12 years.
