If S'porean white collar workers past 40 are losing their jobs in the tens of thousands every year, why is the unemployment rate still relatively low? The answer is that our local talents are being systematically replaced by foreigners with the govt's blessings. I was under the impression that foreigners were brought here to make up for our shortage of skilled labour. That should remain the objective of granting Employment Passes. However, in an effort to improve the bottom line, employers are feeding off cheap PME labour from the region and especially through CECA, in spite of official policies limiting the entry of new EP holders.
