The more important question to asked : why are only CECA is targeted? Singapore have more than a single race, but why CECA instead of other race?

Because the CECA agreement obliges Singapore to allow Indian nationals unfettered access to work here in 127 professions, plus long stay visas for their spouses and children. Many Singaporeans qualify for these jobs but are displaced by Indians, many with dubious qualifications and competence. There are 650,000 Indian nationals working here currently.

On the other hand, Singapore does not have such an agreement with China. The Chinese nationals lured here are those with money (tycoons, syndicate bosses, money launderers) to set up family offices or middle class folk to balance the Malay demographic or uni students on full scholarships. They generally don't compete for jobs, many start their own biz, and are here to prop up the PAP vote in the heartlands.

The most hard-done-by are the Malays. They don't get hired by Indian HR teams, can't speak Mandarin to get into private Chinese family run firms, don't have connections to join GLCs. So they join govt service - healthcare, civil defence, teaching, SMRT, ICA.

So, fuck the PAP.
